“If I could give 0 I would, spent a lot of money on a smeg cooker, which has had lots of faults from day one. Looks terrible paint bubbled up on doors. Just out of warranty. Smeg customer service disgraceful. Will not do anything to rectify. Told I would have to pay a smeg enginner to come out and fix, which is clearly a manufacturer fault.
Would never buy another smeg product again.”
“If I had the option to rate with 0 star I would.
I bought cooker with induction hob and the splashback with the Smeg logo is completely damage and rusty.
This is unacceptable for an extremely expensive cooker. The poor quality of this product is shocking and I regret so much for spending money with a horrible cooker.
I contact their customer support, they said that there is nothing they can do because I bought 5 years ago, when I replied saying that I was not happy they asked me for receipt and photo of the whole cooker. I spent 2 days trying to find the receipt, took a photo, video and days later they told me there is nothing they can do.
I had an issue with a blender as well, with horrible noise, liking liquids and they sent a new one.
I would never buy anything from Smeg again and don't recommend to anyone. Their product are stunning but with an awful quality.”
“I had ZERO experience with Smeg other than their 3rd party technical support telling me that they can't support, and to call for tech support. No one responds. No one answers. Incredibly poor.”
“I purchased the SMEG BM93BL 90 cm Dual Fuel Range Cooker, expecting top-tier quality given its high price. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory.
Multiple Knob Malfunctions: Several of the knobs do not function correctly, making it difficult to operate the cooker as intended.
Electrical/Ticking Fault: There is a persistent electrical ticking noise, which seems to indicate a fault within the unit.
Physical Damage: I also discovered a dent on the top of the cooker, which is unacceptable for a brand-new product of this caliber.
To make matters worse, SMEG's customer service has been incredibly challenging to deal with. Despite repeated attempts to resolve these issues, I have encountered significant delays and a lack of responsiveness from their support team. Adding to my frustration, SMEG does not seem to offer a way to leave reviews online, making it difficult to share honest feedback about my experience.
Given these issues, I cannot recommend this product, especially considering the premium price.”
“Smegs products are simply built to fail
I have a Smeg DI612CA1 dishwasher and doing some routine cleaning of it one day the plastic clips that hold the upper spray arm just broke. I was confused at first when putting it back together because I hadnt even realised it had broken, the tiny plastic nubs holding it in place just fell off.
After ordering a replacement part (had to get a whole new spray arm because the small nut that had beoken wasnt abailable seperately) and installing it, I then realised that in the process of reinstalling it another plastic clip attached nearby also disintegrated so I had to buy ANOTHER replacement part for another bit.
That new replacement part arrived today, new in plastic and guess what, the same damn tiny plastic clip had already broken in transit!
These bits of plastic are mere milimeters thick, exposed to high heats, changing temperatures, and constant vibration. There is simply no way someone designed this without knowing that they would fail within a handful of years”
“The range cooker SY93 is rubbish quality. I would not recommend this product. Make of light cheap metal. The stainless steel base quality is rubbish. The hot plates are made of cheap quality & not fit for purpose. Made of light weight, not ideal. The nozzles to turn on & off are so light & can turn on easily, when not in use. Would not recommend it. The rubber under the hot plates has come off. Not what l expected from smeg. For the amount of money you pay, its not worth it. This is not even fit for 1 star. It should be zero.”
“Smeg products are only for the aesthetics! DO NOT PURCHASE any SMEG products you will regret it! My home has only Smeg products stove, kettle toaster, fridge etc.
I had problems with everything & unfortunately in South Africa all the technicians that have come out to repair are incompetent!!! What’s the point as the warranty & guarantee is no longer valid, paid a fortune for the products & they cannot be repaired!!!!”
“We bought Smeg 27" oven last year with 3yr service contract. Oven does not work err 2. Dealer went out of business. Called Smeg service 3x today. On last call after waiting 10 min recording says leave a message. Terrible product. terrible dealer, terrible service.”
“In less than 1 year my SMEG blender which I may have used a dozen times started leaking oil from the blade assembly. It took me a long time to figure out what was leaking. I thought it was food residue from the blender vase. Finally I tried blending a cup of plain water and the water turned brown! Yikes!
I contacted SMEG us support thinking they would make it right. They sent me to their warranty supplier Adco Service who did not answer emails or phone calls. When I finally did get in touch with them they told me they no longer worked on behalf of SMEG!
SMEG finally asked their parts department to send me a new knife assembly which they never did. They did not seem concerned at all that oil/lubricant was seeping into my food!
In the end I found a replacement on eBay and bought it
Smeg knife blade joint transmission base blender 50 Style D&G BLF01 for $66. It arrived in April 2024, I started this conversation with SMEG in November 2023.
I installed the replacement and now it works fine.
I find the product well built and easy to use but the US support is horrible!”
“They do not care about the brand and don’t know how to spell customer service. They deserve a zero and not a one star. Please don’t buy their good looking products.”
“Yes! Wish I had thought to look at more reviews prior to purchasing a kettle and toaster from Amazon 2 years ago
The kettle has started to leak and the paint has worn off the lid. It’s also started to rust! We’re Brits living in the US and drink a lot of tea.
Customer service is dreadful!
The appliances have lots of cheap plastic parts and for the ridiculous high price it’s just not worth it.
I would love to add pictures but it says file could not be uploaded… from Apple Photographs?
I will never buy from them again!”
“Paid a lot of money for a beautiful Smeg range, expected it to last years, now black paint is cracking, obviously due to heat from the oven & grill, yes we purchased 6 years ago, but would expect a cooker of this price range to last longer. Customer Service are no help, just told we can replace the damaged parts, how much would that cost, I dread to think. Extremely disappointed. Would never purchase Smeg again.”
“I agree, Smeg are 5 star for being useless and 1 star for customer service, I bought a cooker hood, £665 and it only runs at maximum speed, when I said it’s faulty they said the ducting is incorrect, it is not it is as stated in the manual and I had a cooker hood before, 127mm 5”, they do not contact me nor offer any solution, they even said the manual is wrong, it should be 150mm, as it doesn’t have an air flow meter in the ducting I can’t see how it cannot be faulty, if there theory is correct it should only run at a slow speed and not a maximum speed, is it possible to be so technically incompetent, expensive goods backed up by idiots”
“The kettle had stopped working after 1 year and they are saying that there is no warranty on it and nothing can be done.
That’s very upsetting given the face that the kettle costs 250$ and it is the only kettle that lasted in my house for less than two months! DO NOT BUY!!!”
“$900 coffee machine lasted less than 10 months of use, customer service is a nightmare: rude and unhelpful on the phone then give you the runaround via email.”
“As a builder, I was introduced to Smeg at an appliance open house at a Convention Center in Sacramento California. I fell in Love with the looks of the product, so I ended up buying 14 of them for a subdivision I have, Out of those fourteen homes through a series of communications. Ten of them had to be replaced. There were 30-inch gas single flame ranges. During that same period of time, I was remodeling a home for myself, and I installed a 36 inch single flame gas Smeg Range (that was a mistake I should have ordered duel flame). From the beginning the oven never got to the correct temperature, the cook top worked great. But the oven was a problem. They came out, put a new gasket in, thought that would solve the problem. And it did not. Since then, where I bought the appliances called three service companies to come out and they all said they do not work on Smeg. And now the appliances store have told me that they're not going to stand behind Smeg product. So, I'm stuck with a beautiful Smeg range that the oven does not work. The other night I was going to broil something. And of course, the broiler did not work. I was playing around with it a couple days later and the broiler started working. We have an issue there and I don't want to have leaking gas in my house when the flame doesn't ignite. And I can't use it for upcoming Thanksgiving because it doesn't get up to the proper temperature. Don't buy SMEG”
