Hello Sergio. Thank you for your review. Appreciated! Let us explain. During the development of this course our content developers also skipped the ‘with an announcement’ remark as they thought this was the only way to go. However, during the trial tests with various cruise and ro-ro ferry companies we received feedback. One of the remarks was that there could be cases that the captain will use his overriding authority to make this announcement. We therefore made this change. It is very difficult to make a universal course that suits all ships and company policies. Hope this clarifies. Safe sailing and thank you for using STCW.online!

“Its very Good program, proffessional, good for seafarer to study from ship. Only concern how will you confirm authenticity of the person taking the exam. some one may misuse and get certificate for some one else. I am a lecturer in Marine industry, Sri Lanka (Asia) for 19 years. I have lot of experience of students trying to take short cut in Exams. Some ways of confirming Video evidence of the person taking the exam would be prudent and avoid misusers. I would like to see more Programms on SMS, Safety Management, Internal Safety Audit & ISPS Audits which could be helpful for students too. Thank you”

Hello Carlton, thank you very much for your review, appreciated. Nice to get the view of an expert! We ourselves have also been working in the marine industry now for 30 years. Regarding your concern we can say that ID is always an issue in distance learning. And for some courses we do require an ID check. Fortunately a lot of employers nowadays check with training institutes if a certificate has been issued legitimately. Question is if a course participant is willing to take this risk and bear the consequences. Thanks again and kind regards from the STCW.online team
