“Where should I start...oh my God. Please stay away from this company. I ordered struts assembly from them based on what they told me and also on their website. I received the struts and they are horrible. My mechanic told me that these struts do not match with the original ones that he removed. I called, email them back and forth for a month. Every time they will tell me that these are the correct struts. I checked the website again and in the website it shows that there are 2 struts that will work. Looking at the pictures of those and the one replaced, they look identical. I contacted again and again the same story, the one I received are the right one. I had to bring my car to the dealership. The dealership confirmed that these struts that are installed are not the right one. Finally I convinced them to send me the ones that match. Unfortunately now I had to pay again to replace them. Since it was their fault I asked for them to pay at least half of the second instalation but the answer was no, because they still think that the first struts they sent were the right ones, and my mechanic and dealership are wrong. Wow...stay away from them. I am just amazed how they are still in business.”
“I purchased Strutmasters in December 2023 to replace my hydraulic system in my Mercedes SL 500 and had them installed Jan. 2024 and by April the back struts began feeling like I was be slammed to the ground you could feel every bump and Strutmasters replaced them however nothing has changed in fact they are the same struts Between the labor to R&R them twice and the struts I have paid $5,800 and driving my car is worse then driving ever.”
“I bought the passive struts to replace the front magnadrive system on my 2011 Cadillac EXT. While waiting on them to arrive I noticed some of the bad reviews on this site. Obviously I started second guessing my choice. I was dreading the process of returning them, paying a restock fee, and then paying the expensive price of replacements. One day later, after worrying the whole time, they arrived. There was no damage, no "cheap" components, no missing parts and none of the horror stories I read about. The struts looked and seemed to be high quality and packaging exceeded my expectations. Installation was a breeze, and then came the "test drive". My truck drove and responded to the road as it did when I first bought it! Maybe even better!
Overall I am highly satisfied and will buy from them again. I truly believe these bad posts are false. Thanks! RICk”
“I own a 2011 Hyundai Equus which has problems with the Air Suspension, so replaced the Suspension around the whole car which cost a pretty penny, after replacing that, the rear blew again!! I was fed up so I reached out to Strutmaster's purchased the conversion kit, had it put on. Now, the car rides similar to the air ride and I am satisfied, should have done this 3 thousand dollars ago.. I am very satisfied and Thank you StrutMaster's for your quick service and your knowledge of my problem. Hyundai couldnt even help me after so many trip there!! Dee”
“Magnaride replacement for 2018 GMC Yukon did not last a month. I had no warranty because Strutmasters requires installation by certified mechanic. I put the Dormans on and all is well 6 months later.”
“I have a 2012 Hyundai Equus and the ONLY POSITIVE to having Strutmasters on my car is that I don't have to worry about YOUR air suspension falling; and my mechanic also said that the instructions were very simple and clear.
The ride quality is compromised, and there are all kinds of noise and rattles that were not present before the install. Quite honestly after being in my car for 6 months, I'd like to return to the air suspension. Don't waste your money.”
“It was/is a nightmare..You sent the wrong size kit..the rear struts were too Short...I still get the notice regarding the suspension.
I feel like I'm riding a donkey..it jumps all over the place whenever I drive on any road imperfections..
After a combined cost of $3000. For the Kit and installation I should have replaced the one Airmatic that was bad..
Never again!!”
“Does not work well with Jeep Grand Cherokee! Rear coil slips around and make loud noise no matter what is done when hitting a bump or driving up an angle drive! Terrible, wish I had gone with replacement of air system”
“I'm reading all of the horror stories on here, which had me extremely nervous. I didn't want to pay another 6k to fix my failed hydraulic systems on my 2004 CL500 Mercedes. Well, I tried the Strut Master conversion kit, and I'm more than satisfied, I'm extremely happy!”
“I have a 2010 Lexus LS 460 L with air shocks. Purchase Strutmaster conversion kit and everything has been bad every since. On the front I am sitting so low that I scrub the driveway at home everytime going in and out. Did not have the issue before installing. Now they want me to send shocks back for 100 bucks. Please stay away from the conversion kits from Strutmaster. They are a nightmare and headache. I had all control arms (16 peices), front axles, sway bar replaced before conversion kit was installed. STAY AWAY FROM STRUTMASTER!!”
“They only master bull****. Sent an uncomplete kit. (missing 2 parts) Hilariously there are 10 parts total. This is after an initial direct call with my VIN to customer service to make sure everything was exactly correct. After a day of install, we reviewed the online installation video (from the Strutmasters.com website) numerous times to try and figure out what we did wrong. Called their 24 hr. customer service an he said "Don't follow the online video instructions, those are wrong." Follow to paper instructions that came with the kit. Besides the two missing parts, there were no paper instructions included in the kit. BTW, the incorrect video was still live. That didn't matter as there were two parts missing. After my mechanic spent a full day trying to figure out what was wrong, and reviewing the Strutmasters.com video repeatedly, we had to purchase the missing parts (out of my pocket of course) Then I had to pay for a second day in the shop. When I put them on the phone together they tried to blame the issue on me saying I ordered the wrong kit. (I purchased the most expensive kit that was needed according to their sales rep.) I paid 2x as much for their product so I wouldn't have to deal with this. They never sent the replacement parts or an reimbursement for either the parts or labor.”
“BEWARE Mercedes Benz owners. I made the very bad mistake of purchasing these pos's for my Cl 500 and had them put on by a certified machine like they wanted. After them installed I noticed the drivers side front was a inch lower than the passenger side. Then the center nut stripped out with less than 500 miles on them. This is how the strut is mounted to the car so it banged when it was driven. Plus all the struts squeak so bad people walking turn to look at what he noise is all about. Before I bought this junk I had the front end rebuilt by a certified mechanic. When I went to my mechanic he showed me what the problem was that the nut I the center was made of bad inferior material. When I called they tried all the excuses I've told you about in these warning. They wanted my to pay for the replacement strut and send the broken one back at my cost!! Which is over a $100 bucks. So they double screw you. I can't imagine it's just Mercedes owners getting screwed by these things so all car owners BEWARE!! Just ANOTHER DISATIFED CUSTOMER”
“The Magneride replacement for GM z95 code was way too soft and bouncy. The warranty states a certified mechanic must install or the warranty is void. Strutmasters should only sell to shops with certified mechanics if they will not stand behind their products for "do it yourselfer's". Poor product, no warranty.”
“Missing bolts I emailed strutmasters and ask for picture proofs ;spend 949.00 $ for my Buick lesabre shocks with this company they wanted to buy on other set and return the ones for a restocking fee of $100.00 this people are a joke, my car sits higher from the drivers side more then the passenger side with a hard hit on any terrain this is a bad buy sad they’re still ripping people off.”
“I purchased a conversion kit (GB1RB) for a 2007 Trail Blazer SS. My only complaint (which is a show stopper) is the kit does NOT include the upper coil spring rubber isolators. It's a conversion kit, clearly you're converting from airbags to springs and this is an important part that you do not currently have, The isolators should be included in the kit or mentioned on the website as a required part for installation. It is a show stopper due to having to stop and order the part before continuing the installation.”
“Cautionary tale: Learn from my misstep and avoid the pitfalls I encountered. As the owner of a Bentley Flying Spur, I spared no expense in assembling a dedicated team including chefs, pilots, attorneys, chauffeurs, and a personal mechanic. When I decided to invest over $1,500 in a conversion kit, little did I know it would lead to a series of regrettable events.
Upon installation, a disconcerting noise akin to metal-on-metal contact emanated from my vehicle, a problem that had never surfaced prior to the replacement of the air shocks. Seeking recourse, I reached out to the company responsible, only to be met with demands for proof of purchase and an invoice from an automotive shop. It became apparent that I had fallen victim to a dubious scheme. I implore you to steer clear of Strut Master and their deceptive practices, lest you too become ensnared in their money-making ploy.”
“Bought set of struts from these loosers and they will not stand behind their product! I purchased a set of 4 struts and shocks for my 2017 Buick Encore and two for the front of of my 2017 Honda Ridgeline and have no problem with most, but the front of the Buick struts make a noise sometimes when I hit a rough spot in the pavement. I contacted them and they are of no help. They keep insisting that I provide evidence of the issue. I have no equipment to monitor and record the issue when it happens so they have provided me with no help. These shocks are only a few months old and I have doen repairs to all of my vehicles since I was 16 and am now 69, so I know a little about parts and repairs. If Shockmasters cannot stand behind what they sell, their warranty is worthless. I will NOT be buying from them again and will advise all against them!”
“I bought the conversion kit for a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Installation was simple despite poor instructions and weren't for my specific vehicle. Started noticing creaking noise. Rechecked installation, all was good. Contacted Strutmaster's for guidance. They said they had never heard of a problem like that. Warranty is a joke as I would have to pay for new items and wait for a credit in 4-8 weeks. Plus, I would have to repeat all the labor involved at my expense. If the replacement parts also have an issue, well, here we go again. This isn't my first rodeo with trying to find quality replacement parts for overpriced OEM, but I haven't saved a dime and wasted more time than I should have. Strutmaster sells inferior quality parts. Half the price, ten times the headache. Waste of time and money.”
