Prescription was cut very well but they're not Maui Jim quality.
Hard to describe but, they're not Maui's. Colors don't "pop".
I chose the "digital thinning" option, for a wraparound frame.Bad choice.

Thanks for the review Kevin. First of all, you would not be able to get your prescription lenses made by Maui Jim in those wrapped frames as your prescription is beyond their range that they will do. The only way for you to get your prescription in those wrapped sunglasses is to use our digital edge thinning technology. Secondly, scientifically speaking through third party optical lab testing, our lenses actually feature significantly higher optical clarity and more color boost and contrast than the Maui Jim prescription lenses. Please do what is best for you going forward, and we'll be here if you want any lenses in your strong prescription in wrapped frames going forward (that MJ will not do for you).

“When I recently learned I finally needed prescription lenses, I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy my Maui Jim sunglasses anymore. Thankfully, Tajima exists! I received my prescription lenses (polarized reflective, just like the Maui Jim lenses, but better!!!) in a very reasonable time frame. I couldn’t be happier about the clarity of the lens. “excellent service....i sent a brand new pair of maui jims and they put the great lenses in and returned them within 2 1/2 weeks from start to finish. I know these lenses are as good or better than maui jim's prescription lenses and maui jim would not do my prescription glasses cause my right eye prescription is over there maximum. “Lenses look good but the fit in one side is loose. I swap the oem Costa lenses back in and they are tight. The loose side rattles, clearity seems OK but I only used them for 20 min before going back to original lenses, likely wasted my money.”
Hi Dustin, thank you for your review. You requested us to ship you the lenses for your own installation, and we tested the lenses in a brand new Costa Cut sunglass. We've found that used frames can change shape a bit overtime so it's impossible for us to guarantee a perfect fit unless you send them in to us for the installation. We'll reach out to you directly, but we'd be happy to provide you with a shipping label to send the sunglasses and the lenses back to us so we can reshape them to ensure a perfect fit to your exact frames.

My wife and I needed new glasses before departing to the BVI for a 10 day charter. Of course, our decision to replace our sunglasses was last minute. My wife's needs were particularly challenging - she wanted progressive lens in an extreme wrap frame. Jacob and Steve wrote us multiple times answering our questions and giving us questions to ask our optometrist, sent us multiple frames for my wife to consider to assure that she got the correct size, and delivered the finished product on an expedited schedule to get us the glasses before we departed. They spent an enormous amount of time for a 2 lens order - I can't imagine another company doing this.
As for the lenses - great!!!!
All of my future lens needs will be met by Tajima, and I tell all of my friends to buy from them.”

I received my sunglasses from you with the new lenses installed. The lenses are beautiful to look at and even more beautiful to look through. They are very high quality and the craftsmanship is perfect. The lenses seem to be a little thicker than the original lenses(which is a good thing), and I would say the optical quality and clairity is even better than the MJ lenses. And of course, customer service throughout the whole process was top notch. For anyone contemplating getting new lenses from Tajima Direct (I say just do it), you will not be disappointed. “I am a huge fan of the Maui Jim Honolua Bay frames - they are a truly unique hingeless and rimless design. Maui Jim discontinued the model several years ago and they no longer make replacement prescription lenses for them since no spare parts are available. Enter Tajima, I found their website searching for companies that make custom lenses for glasses. -- I was skeptical at first but I decided to take a chance. I opted for the Blue Mirror Polarized lens which is something Maui Jim doesn't have as an option for Rx lenses.
When I received my sunglasses back, I was in awe. They were beautiful! I'm extremely happy with the quality and the finish of the lens. I am ecstatic to know that I will get several more years out of my favorite pair of sunglasses and know that if I need new lenses, Tajima is there.”
