We are very sorry to see you leave a 1 star review and are hoping this has been left in error for our Academy as many do confuse us with other similarly named but otherwise unconnected training providers. Please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team on freephone 0800 999 2277 if you did train with The Beauty Academy as we'd be keen to address any concerns and provide support as required to assist you with your training requirements. Many thanks!

Booked a course for VTCT Level 2 & 3, I paid for the course over the phone before confirming dates, dates were then emailed to me and I could not attend them due to being pregnant and the dates being too late into my pregnancy, I cancelled the course and requested a refund within 4 hours of paying for the course on the basis I could not attend the dates due to pregnancy (which they were fully aware of at the time of booking) and was told no, after fighting my case I was refunded minus a 10% admin fee (£150!!!) £150 for doing absolutely nothing! The MD was also very rude and tried his best to be patronizing! Would not recommend!!!

Not enough training most of it was going through the fire drill and pictures of nail fungus in a book the teachers were reading out to us. This took most of the day up and them demonstrating. Then we had about 2 hours to practice on a fake hand to do acrylic. The teacher kept making us all feel uncomfortable as a lot of us was finding it difficult to get the acrylic thick enough to use, what do you expect when you give us no practical time. This course at this accademy was the biggest waste of money I have ever ever spent. It was more talking to us that showing us and helping us on how to do acrylic nails. Load of crap

Diabolical they wouldn't let me take a break in training because I had a baby, and was breastfeeding. Asked them to defer my course until I was back off maternity leave and they said no! After me asking if it would be ok as I was just pregnant when I signed up. I'm now left with half a qualification. The acrylic course was over subscribed and had 9 students with 1 tutor. Although she was fab, she couldn't give us all the time we needed. I am currently seeking legal advice as I don't feel like I should have to pay back a student loan for the absolute shambles that was supposed to be a VTCT. I now have to complete this training elsewhere. The tutors were all lovely and knowledgeable but even they seemed let down by the admin side of this money grabbing business. I do not recommend the beauty academy at all.

I am currently on the level 3 course in make up artistry and it is terrible!! You have to complete written modules at home before you have even done any practical training. Answering questions about subjects you have no idea or experience in. When you ask for help they tell you to copy from the study guide so basically learning nothing. They rush you to book onto the practical days and if, even in an emergency, you can't attend they make you pay £50 to reschedule. On the practical days, which out of the whole course over 9 months you only have 10 practical days... The tutors are nice but don't teach you anything. They need re training in up to date make up.. They don't show you their skills on a model.. Wonder why?! The products and tools they use are really basic. My make up is better quality and the other girls said the same. A few of the girls have left the course and wasted all that money because it's just not worth it. Pay for a make up lesson from a few make up artists or watch YouTube; you will learn a hell of a lot more and won't cost half as much!! For 3 & a half grand you don't even get a kit. They send you nothing through the post etc so how can they justify that amount??

I took the complete make up course back in January and i have to day that it was a total waste of money and time. The tutor was lovely, but i cannot say i have learned to do a proper make up on a client, the most disappointing thing was the eye make up. So sad that i paid lots of money for it and it was totally not worth it!

I have to be honest and say I felt the course was a complete waste of time! The teacher spent most of the morning discussing what other courses people had booked and what content was in those courses. We were not shown how to do anything it was more a case of just get on with it, and she showed no interest while we were doing the partners nails or even the final result or quality of work. Whenever I asked a question about techniques or tools she would reply its all in the booklet, which is most unhelpful while trying to attempt something for the first time. For example, she told us to trim the cuticles of our partner, I expressed my concern at doing it as Ive never done it before and asked her to show me and she made my partner bleed! She then just walked away without so much an apology to the girl or even offer a plaster of advice on health & safety / hygiene precautions & what we would do if we did the same in a salon. My partner was most upset about it, left sitting there bleeding! Some of us swapped email addresses and all those girls have since said they feel they have learnt more watching youtube video tutorials than on the actual training day, which is a shame as we were all so keen and eager to learn. The teacher seemed like she didnt care less and was most uninspiring and demotivating.

I have to be honest and say I felt the course was a complete waste of time! The teacher was dreadful, she spent the morning discussing what other courses people were taking and the content of those courses. We were not 'shown' how to do anything, it was more a case of just 'get on with it', not even showing an interest in what we were doing or the final results. When I asked questions about techniques or equipment, she prefered to say its all in the booklet, which is most unhelpful if the question relates to what we are supposed to be doing. I asked about how to clip a cuticle and said I would prefer she show me than I just risk it myself, she did my partners cuticle and made her finger bleed, then just walked away without so much an explaination or sorry, or offer a plaster, or any hygiene advice. My partner was most upset! She just really came across that she couldnt be bothered and everything was too much hassle, completely demotivating and uninspiring. I have since had emails from other girls on the same course that day and we all felt the same, that we have learnt more by watching youtube videos than on the actual training day, which is such a shame as we were all so keen and eager to learn.

Teachers didn't know anything, didn't teach anything. They have no clue about latest trends and tricks in makeup industry! We spend a lot of time on our own and they weren't very helpfull. I had a skin reaction to products it's been used on me. Poor hygiene in the class( we didn't have hand sanitiser) Spent lots of time on lunch breaks again. Products we used were cheap drugstore makeup. Couple of mac foundation were there but they were almost finished so we couldn't use them anyway. Never ever recommend you guys to anyone! What a waste of money!

I paid just under £200 for basic make up course and it really wasn't worth the money. My certificate never even arrived and I feel I learnt nothing. It's so basic it should be free, whilst the teacher was lovely, the techniques were nothing that a normal person using make up didn't know, I had to ask on things I wanted to learn. The make up used was extremely cheap and on the practise trials with other students we just practised using anything technique we wanted. This is not worth the money, you learn little to nothing and I was truly disappointed after really thinking I would learn something. Would not recommend the basic 1 day make up course if you want to learn.
