DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR FLASH SALES .... no ORDERS ARE BEING FULFILLED THAT I CAN SEE ONLINE ... THEY ARE IN ADMINISTRATION SINCE DECEMBER LAST YEAR AND STILL TAKING PEOPLES MONEY ON FALSE PRETENCES ... THE ADMINISTRATORS AND THEIR COMPANIES SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR ALLOWING THE WEBSITE TO KEEP TAKING PEOPLES ORDERS AND MONEY ... THEIR EMAIL DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR FRAUD FOR CONTINUING TO SEND PEOPLE EMAILS OF OFFERS .... SOMETIMES 4 TO 5 TIMES A DAY ...

Ordered on 3rd March, was told it would be up to 7 weeks for it to arrive. Emailed and got a reply saying that they were honouring all orders but it may be a bit longer. A few weeks later when I still hadn't got my order-tried to phone, put in a queue and the phone was never answered. Then sent an email to ask where my books were, no answer. Unacceptable customer service, a real shame as I've always been really pleased with the prompt service.I really hope my order arrives soon as it has gifts within it.

Ordered in mid February and still waiting for delivery..8 WEEKS to date. All E-mails go un answered,,disgraceful service!!! Quick to take your money! Will not recommend or use again

Order still pending 5 weeks later. I have e-mailed 3 times and managed to speak to them twice. Last week I was told to ring back this week. I have tried several times but waited on the phone for at least 20 minutes each time and put in a queue, Managed to take my payment instantly though . I understand they're closing and it's a sad loss of jobs but stop bombarding me with emails asking me to buy more books every day. You've taken my money but I can’t even have a conversation about my order 5 weeks later. They need to close their orders down and honour existing ones. Not holding out for a refund or the books. All it would have taken was an email saying sorry. Stop marketing when you can't fulfil loyal customer orders.

It is disgraceful you can still bombard us with emails daily when my order from 19th Feb has still not arrived. Take note customers DONT ORDER!

I ordered three books on 1 December. After a week I emailed asking where my order was, no reply, emailed again, no reply. I phoned customer service who asking where my order was and asked why no reply to my emails. Was told I may have sent two, but others have sent five. Asked where my order was, told in the warehouse and would receive before Xmas. Still no sign, so again phoned customer service who said I would need to speak to enquires, so he put me throug, the phone rang out. I phoned again and asked not to be out through to enquires as they were customer service. He totally ignored me and put me through again, phone rang out again. I have still not received my books and my order is still pending. As I ordered in 1 December this was plenty of time to send my grandsons books for his Xmas present. Absolutely shocking customer service, I have now resigned myself to the fact that i will not receive these before Xmas, if at all. I will definitely be making a formal complaint, although given past experience it will probably be ignored.

Having used the site many times I didn’t think twice about placing an order. I placed my order on 5th March. I have written about this order twice but no reply. I didn’t write initially because I was told the order could take up to 4 weeks to arrive and then an update on the web site said it could be 7 weeks. So I then wrote after the 7 weeks passed. Some of my order was for Easter presents for my grandchildren! I feel cheated out of my money by the administrators.

I placed my order on 20th March. They said will take upto 4 weeks for standard delivery. It's now much longer than that. Emailed them but no reply. Should at least reply to update what's going with my order.

I ordered a big order on 22/02/2020 before I saw the complaints on twitter. Really wish I hadn't ordered they took my money instantly but still no order, I wanted it for children to kill some time in lockdown but have now had to order from Baker Ross and The Works instead.

Books arrived today ordered on 12.2.20.!! Appalling customer service. But at least my Grandaughter has her books Good luck !!

Worst company ever. I'm waiting 18 days for delivery. Money taken immediately from my account and not sending order. Don't waist time and money.

It's been 16 days since I ordered from The Book People and my order's status is still "pending" (aka, not distributed yet). I've reached out to them twice and have no received any response. I'm losing faith and not sure if i'll ever get these books. There is no order cancellation process as well. I'm truly disappointed. Don't waste your time and money!

I have used The Book People for a couple of years, and as I live not too far from their warehouse, delivery has always been very fast and reliable, and I would have recommended them to anyone. There was a slight hitch last Christmas when one of the books I had ordered was out of stock. Even though it was not going to arrive in time for Christmas, when they contacted me, I said I was happy to wait for it to come in again, but in the end they refunded my money anyway, which seemed reasonable, as I don't know enough about the workings of the book trade to think otherwise. This year, however it is a different story. I ordered some books on 15th Dec, and, as I have now just discovered, my card was debited immediately. However when I look at my order status on the TBP website, 4 days later, my order is still described as Pending. On the 17th I was shocked to hear that the company has gone into administration, but reassured by their declared intention to fulfil all orders by Christmas. I have tried phoning, but I suspect there in no-one there manning the phones. I have sent an email, in which I even offered to go and collect the books from the warehouse, which would have saved them some money, but have had no reply. Is anyone out there having the same experience, or does anyone know what is going on?

My order was tracked and arrived on time but one book missing sent 2messages via there Web sight no answer from them still not had a reply 2weeks later never again would I deal with them so ignorant not to reply at least

I paid a large amount of money in full 2 weeks ago with no sign of the order. I phoned several times and was told that someone will return my call but this has not happened. I feel like I've had my money stolen! Appalling customer service! Avoid like the plague! This is a scam website no doubt!

Disheartening to see so many reviews saying they've had the same complaint, not making me feel that a resolution is likely any time soon. I placed an order at the end of December. When it arrived one book was missing (ticked on the order sheet but another that I did receive wasn't ticked). The missing book was from the same range as another that is received, which quite frankly was rubbish and not worth what I'd paid and therefore I'd have wanted to return both. Over the next six weeks I've tried to phone multiple times but no one answers, the FAQ section refers to an online chat button that doesn't exist, and I sent three emails backed up by three online enquiries. They eventually responded to one of the online enquiries saying they'd not received my email, they only mentioned one date but I assume they meant any of emails nor the two earlier online enquiries - which I find highly unlikely! I've now replied with a fourth email which included the history of my prior messages, but still no reply or resolution. I accept that mistakes happen, particularly over the busy Christmas period, however the complete lack of reply and customer service is unacceptable. Such a shame really as myself and family have used The Book People a lot over many years.

I placed an order, well on time for when I needed the books. The delivery arrived late, though I was repeatedly assured that it would be on time when I called. It was then left out in the rain while I was away. When I returned I tried to get a refund for the item, which I didn;t need anymore. A month later I have yet to get the money, though I have returned the items. One item was missing from the order and I only received a refund when I called and insisted on getting a refund. Communication is poor, I got no response at all to the many emails I sent and I often spent 30mins+ on hold.
