“I placed my order and realised straight away that I had not added my discount info.
I rang within a few minutes and also e mailed I was told that once the order was placed they could not add my 20percent discount
. Even though it was only a few minutes after I ordered !!
Leaving me paying 10 pounds more than I should have”
“Unfortunately I was not happy with the quality of truffles that I received. I ordered 50 g black summer truffles which are in season currently according to Trufflehunter website, they cost me 45 pounds. However when the truffles arrived they didn’t have the well-known truffle taste or smell at all. The truffle butter that came with them had much more truffle taste and smell ironically. I later read that summer truffles only get ripe closer to July/August time, but unfortunately that was after I already purchased them. Asides from that, the website is really good and all the information provided is quite useful including the recipes.”
“I like the way they deliver , the packaging, and how they keep you informed about your order. Instead of a grade A truffle i received 3 truffles, various sizes, one small, a medium and a big one. The big one was eaten inside by something and have very little flavour, the small one was fin but again, very little flavour, only the medium one had some flavour.”
“A very mixed review this one. Firstly, great website and ease of ordering, prices were reasonable enough considering the product. The truffles and other stuff arrived on the day expected and the packaging was probably the best I have ever seen, you have no reservations of ordering online when your order is packed so well! Now to the truffle itself, the most important part. It looked fantastic, good condition and smelt fine but sadly, its taste did not match the previous meals I had with truffles or my expectations. We ate it that night: tagliatelle, cheese, oil, butter and 80% of the truffle, shaved and grated. Tasted nice but was not blown away; the aroma was muted, like the taste so I'm not sure what I did wrong, was it my cooking or the truffle? Maybe I'll try again. Hopefully the other products will fare better (truffle salt and some preserved truffle).”
“The white truffle oil tastes very intensive and good. Anyway, I was disappointed that it only contains 47,3% of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and uses another 47,3% of cheaper and less quality olive oil. Why won't you, in such a special and luxury product, use half and half oil and not make it an excellent product with 100% of Extra Virgin Olive Oil?”
“The online experience is not that great, and nor is the phone experience. Got short shrift when I enquired about whether I could include a message saying that this was a gift for a friend of mine who has cancer, and they just replied that they don’t provide that service. Otherwise, delivery arrived on time for my friend, and she was delighted. They do throw in some free truffle butter, which is a nice touch. I will use them again, but feel it’s a missed opportunity on the gift message front.”
“The website was great and service has been good how ever the flavour of the truffle was average. I was very excited about having a fresh truffle but the flavour is very mild and I was disappointed. Trufflehunter were great and responded to my query but said that the flavour could be enhanced by cooking with butter which was disappointing.”
“Service was great and the product was packed and delivered in super-quick time. The truffle didn't have a lot of flavour or aroma so I found I had to use the accompanying truffle butter (which was offered free of charge) to give my cooking any real truffle flavour.”
“The product looks fine but the packaging was inadequate - it arrived in a Jiffy bag so the voucher was bent and the cardboard was ripped on the truffle shaver packaging. Not ideal as they’re both gifts. It’s not a big deal obviously - just packaging, but it kind of makes a difference when you’re spending a lot of money!”
