They Steal money from the elderly and most vulnerable. I bought a Washing machine from JL for my eldery parents, my 90 year old father has dementia and my elderly mother has had a stroke and I assumed that by using JL if there was a problem it would get sorted out, I could not have been more wrong. I paid for the machine to be installed and the old working machine to be removed. A day later the new machine filled with smelly dirty water and now cannot be used. These are elderly vulnerable people and JL have taken their money and abandoned them. Rather than a washing machine they have been left them with a pond full of dirty smelly water. I am disgusted at the Customer Services (thats a joke) and what they are doing to what was a great Britis brand. The CEO should be ashamed of herself. I have spent days on the phone to JL who have lied to me, broken dozens of promises, ended calls (no I wasnt rude) and one JL employee told me there was nothing they were going to do, so tough!. Do yourselve a huge favour, the JL brand and customer service is dead. If you want great customer care go anyweher but JL. The way they have treated my parents makes me sick! 46438610

Bought wardrobe from John Lewis when it was delivered clearly would not fit in the room so I asked they take it away they insisted on putting it together which only proved me right. They then refused to take take it away. Phoned John Lewis they were evasive and refused to give me a collection date. In the end I complained they said they would collect but not dismantle! I have to pay 150 pounds to have it dismantled! Do not buy from John Lewis!

After 18 months my iPhone X went on the blink, and when diagnosed at Apple, they said the processor was putting the machine into Panic mode and it wasn't worth repairing the phone. They offered an instant replacement ( for a fee ) as it was out of warranty. As it was under John Lewis 2 year guarantee, i took it to the local Kingston store. I was quoted 10-15 days to repair, which is scandalous since I had the diagnostic report from Apple. 28 days later I still do not have my phone. Imagine going a month without your phone. Because I had replaced the screen with iSmash, I had to pay John Lewis 279 pounds to bring it back under warranty ( the screen was never replaced, as they will be sending out a replacement unit, so feel pretty aggrieved) But the fact that JL send it to a repairer who sends it to Apple is in the modern tech age frankly quite antiquated. If they lose the trust of the brand, then in the modern shopping environment, they will surely suffer exponentially. Far easier to buy direct from Apple and purchase Apple Care and then the phone would have been with me on the same day. 28 days and counting - ridiculous - be forewarned

I have been a customer of my local John Lewis store for nearly fifty years and in that time I have always felt that I received good service and quality products from them. I suppose that this is because I never really had a problem with anything I bought from them. All this changed 4 weeks ago when I ordered a washing machine from them for which I requested next day delivery and paid for the removal of my old machine and the installation of the new one. Unfortunately the very unpleasant young man who arrived to carry out this work decided that he was not able to install a new machine. No explanation was given for this, although I must point out that two days later I had an identical machine installed by Curry’s without any problem. I must confess that I became increasingly angry with his attitude and when he told me he couldn’t install the machine I told him I didn’t want it. Throughout the time that he and his colleague were in my house the new washing machine was still on the van. I had used my Partnership card for this purchase and did not anticipate the difficulties of getting the charge for this item removed from my card. I made several calls to customer services only to be told that a refund could only be made once the item was back in the warehouse. The fact that I had never even received the washing machine was ignored. Advised on several occasions that it would take up to five working days for the refund to be made to my account. It actually took 3 weeks. At one point I received an email to inform me that the machine would be picked up on a certain day. I replied to say that I did not have the machine but this was ignored and I duly received a phone call from a driver telling me they would be arriving in 20 minutes. Funnily enough he didn’t seem too surprised when I told him I didn’t have the machine. On the day that I discovered that my account was up to date I paid the outstanding amount and cancelled my Partnership card. John Lewis have just lost yet another customer.

I order a smart tv from Tunbridge Wells. It was delivered this morning. I noticed it was damaged. I called John Lewis and after getting the phone line cut off, when I got through, they said they was unable to replace the tv until next Thursday. I have therefore had to wait nearly two weeks for tv I have purchased. This service is disgusting as Argos can replace the product the same day. John Lewis should consider their approach.

hideously difficult to order gift cards. When the gift card order didn't go through, the e-gift cards take at least 12 hours to verify. Really old fashioned and incredibly inconvenient

DISGUSTING COMPANY, WILL NEVER USE AGAIN!!! I purchased my little boy some Birthday presents for delivery, received a message whilst at work saying my item had been delivered... IT HAD NOT! Nothing was there. Contacted customer services and explained the situation and they basically called me a liar and that it had been delivered. Refused to replace the items or offer a refund. Absolutely fuming! I'll stick with Argos in future as I know for a fact my items will be delivered. My son will now go without his birthday presents... THANKS!!!!!

We finally purchased our first home and wanted to buy quality products with good service... but instead we had a nightmare, trying to get priority orders delivered, poor customer service and pathetic excuses, with a driver saying there was no one to receive the items which is not true as they drove off after being received and have been asked to wait 5 min, but instead drove off!! We paid priority for the delivery slot, and he didn't even wait 5 minutes to be shown where the stuff needs to go!! What a horrible experience after being so excited to get things for our first home!! We where back and forth trying to sort out a big order and ended up having to cancel it because of the lack of effort put in from the store. We managed to buy loads of kitchen supplies spending a large amount of money, then being told we have to pay for the bags - the only reason why we need bags is because you don't have boxes for the crockery! Very disappointed in our experience. Not what i expected from a "professional well known brand" .

This was an international order. The items arrived promptly, however one was missing three buttons. I called the customer care twice about this and was reassured that the spare buttons will be sent the following day, as well as request a price adjustment for one of the items. Neither of those requests was fulfilled. This is a huge disappointment especially after making purchases with the company for many, many years, although they were all done within the UK. Clearly, the Mr. John Lewis does not care, not does he truly wishes to expand his business abroad, let alone is bothered about his life-long customers.

Appalling, unprofessional, disorganised, haphazard after sales customer service. Ordered black out blind from Peter Jones in January and still don't have a black out blind 5 months later - so have cancelled the order. Request for compensation or goodwill gesture denied. I'll never shop at Peter Jones again.

Did not surprise me to come on here and read the negative reviews about John Lewis. Level of service I have received in the last month has completely changed my perception of this company. I bought a John Lewis washing machine in November 2017. It is still under guarantee and the lock mechanism on the door is faulty. It has been a month, and I am still unable to use the machine. I called John Lewis customer services when I first had the issue, and all they did was hand over a number for a repair company. I have had 4 visits from this company and I am no closer to having the issue resolved. And John Lewis have completely washed their hands of my issue, and have done nothing to assist in resolving it. I bought this machine because I thought it was backed by the name and reputation of John Lewis, but was seriously mislead!! This has now cost me a fortune in missed work waiting for repair men, and I would have been far better off buying a more expensive machine from a company that values it's customers. They might have "Never Knowingly Undersold" on price, but they definitely oversell the level of service they provide once they have your money! Should be ashamed!!

Sold a dishwasher that was from a third party, unknown to me at time of purchase. The dishwasher broke within a week and because it didn't come directly from John Lewis, I am still awaiting an engineer 3 weeks later. John Lewis Customer Service are a waste of time and do not action things when asked to.

Oh dear. Appalling customer service on the phone. Confused, chaotic and downright rude. I thought JL customer service was supposed to be second to none? And my latest experience is that I can't even get through to customer services: a total of 25 minutes sitting in a holding queue, no idea where I am in the queue or how long it will take to answer the call. Pull your socks up, John Lewis.

HORRIBLE experience with JL delivery and installation service. The nightmare started at the shop in Southsea with incompetent lazy team. No wonder the shop is closing soon!!! After almost two months of absurd discussions my appliance (Belling Cooking Range) was not delivered and installed as it was supposed to. The delivery boys simply left it in my living room. I have spent 2 hours over the phone with equally incompetent team. Only solution is to find a solution on my own!!! Surreal, extremely unpleasant and in direct violation of basic customers rights. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP THERE.

Really bad service. Arrogance and rudeness of the Technical customer support service managers is beyond belief! No remorse on how they undermine and manipulate customers. They definitely need correct training and need to be put through disciplinary. I have made a customer compliant and let’s see how they try to brush it under the carpet. AVOID JOHN LEWIS AT ALL COSTS!

Just wanted post my utter dissatisfaction with John Lewis. Having bought an Apple MacPro from you in Christmas 2016 + extended warranty, the machine screen failed. Apple tech stated on record after undertaking tests there was no evidence of user fault, water ingress etc and stated although it cannot be 100% that there was an inherent manufacturing fault. Despite the great tech support Apple provided in stating they would repair FOC if the machine had been purchased directly from them and at one stage John Lewis stating even in writing that they questioned the validity of the original tech assessment from Apple John Lewis refused to undertake the repair offering a miserly £100 for my troubles. After taking legal advice I was told JL were quoting consumer law incorrectly and it was beholden on them to accept responsibility for the repair. I threatened to pursue them legally as a consequence but sometimes in life you have to accept it really isn't worth it. Reviewing John Lewis customer service there does appear to be a concerted push back on customer queries.Buyers beware. And if you are going to buy great brands buy them direct and not from resellers. Lesson learn
