Returned goods but did not receive refund. Contacted several times and was told wait upto 14 days even though I knew the goods had been received the day after sending by tracking. Eventually not far short of a month the refund was made and I made a complaint to head office and was pleasantly surprised when I received a very apologetic call and a good will gesture was given a cash credit of £35 to my account. I was very impressed with the call and cash hence 3 stars otherwise it would have been 1. Brilliant customer service.

Brilliant customer service. Unfortunately the delivery process for ordering my fridge freezer and getting my existing unit removed involved calling a number between opening hours instead of ordering from the site.

Good product, but why would I want the divan(base) of my new bed, to be delivered four weeks before the mattress? Fortunately, we managed to co-ordinate the delivery of both items for the same day ourselves, but surely this is something John Lewis should have done.

They do offer good service, but it can sometimes be hard to get a refund without a receipt and sometimes you don't have one if it was a gift.

I am was very disappointed with the on line service I received from John Lewis, who's carriers managed to lose my order, but it was nearly a month later when customer service finally admitted it. I was very upset by the attitude of one of the female reps who was very offhand. The whole situation ,however, was turned around by the lady on haberdashery who could not have been more helpful, pleasant and courteous and resolved the situation amicably. I was made to feel a valued customer for that I am very grateful , this lady is a credit to you.

Two completely different experiences of my local John Lewis store yesterday... First, an enquiry about my JL card was met with a shrug of the shoulders by staff at the cash till, then they stood by while I struggled to pack my bag. I say 'stood by' but actually they waved me out of the way to make way for younger, fitter customers who could pack their bags themselves. Not the service I am used to in JL and I thought 'am I going to put up with this for a measly free cup of tea and a cake every three months??' But then, I went to the lingerie fitting rooms looking for bra accessories. I have had a mastectomy and reconstruction and needed some help in fitting my own bra correctly. The assistant in the fitting rooms was lovely, she spent time with me and sorted out the problem without even any additional cost to me. I have been a customer of JL (or George Henry Lee in their previous life) since 1973 and it has always been my favourite store for clothes, accessories and household buys. After the first experience yesterday I was ready to rethink my loyalty to the store but the lingerie assistant restored my faith in John Lewis. She gets five stars - the other staff get -1

I bought two ceiling pendant lights online from John Lewis. I like them a lot. However one was seen to be damaged when unpacked. Resulting in a repeat visit by the electrician/fitter and slightly more time/cost for me. The return of the damaged item and sending a new one was done quickly and without fuss. So far so good. John Lewis then asked me to "review the product". I gave an honest opinion which was that I liked the lamps but over the years I have had several items from various retailers and agents which have been "damaged in transit". These have always involved a Royal Mail carrier. I simply suggested that John Lewis review their policy of using Royal Mail when they cannot deliver themselves. A quick search online will verify that I am not the only one to have formed a certain negative opinion of Royal Mail as carriers. The review (which I emphasise that they had asked for) was rejected "Unfortunately your review did not meet our guidelines for posting on johnlewis.com". That is, I assume, it contained some negative comments. Presumably there are reasons why John Lewis will not allow criticism of a carrier who damages goods. I will let you come to your own conclusions about that. John Lewis - please don't ask me for reviews if you don't want an honest opinion.

I normally receive really good service from John Lewis whether it's in store or online, but my last online order wasn't great. I ordered some Christmas decorations and when they were delivered, a wreath I bought was all broken. It looked more like it was broken to start with then if it happened in transit. I just wish someone checked the items before the shipped. I will still shop with them again and hope that I have better luck.
