“I was with them for a couple of years as they were cheap. I called them up to ask what would happen if I made a claim and what my excess was, but made it very clear NOT to make a claim.
They ended up using this call as me making a claim and my premium went up for the next year?!
I had to pay a further £200 on renewal for an accident that never happened.
I contacted the financial ombudsman service and despite marshmallow admitting and showing them the recording of me saying I didn’t want to make a claim, they couldn’t do anything because the company is registered in Gibraltar…
Please do not go with this company. Stick with a UK registered company. They are a scam. This is clearly why they can advertise so cheap because they’re dodging all their taxes.”

“If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. After supplying adequate proof of address documents over and over and over again. I kept getting harassing emails stating I did not upload the documents properly which resulted in them canceling my policy. Leaving me stranded to get to work.
It has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever endured. The only recommendation I would give to people about Marshmallow insurance, is to stay far, far away!!!”
“Don't join this company unless you want to lose all your NCB/NCD. I joined this company 2 years ago with 6 years NCD. They accepted my NCD and show it in the my account as normal. While I got a 80% increase in my premium without making any claims, I decided to leave them. They just give me a 2 years NCD and refused to give me a 8 years certificate. And, all other insurance companies only willing to accept the NCD cert from the last insurer. I tried to make a complaint to Financial Ombudsman Service but they just returned to me that marshmallow is not registered in the UK and is not under their regulation. What a joke that an insurance company doing business in the UK is not under the local regulation. If you don't mind, use them. they know they can increase the premium in the 2nd year as your old NCD certificate can only valid for 1 year.”
“Made a claim since 4th November and till date, this insurance can't even get synetiq, to pick up my car. My car has been sitting at the garage for the past 4weeks! And guess what? I'll be charged another insurance fee today!
I have called, been on live chat, sent Emails, nothing has been actioned!
Oh did I mention, that the insurance doesnt have a direct phone number, it's only live chat or Email! The calls are to Motor repair network, their partner, who is the most inefficient! Their staff literally told me I couldn't speak with a manager!
This inefficiency is beyond ridiculous and frustrating!

“For every driver, car insurance has two sides, buying experience and the unfortunate side of having to make a claim. I rated marshmallow 5 star soon after buying my car insurance like many drivers have done but then in January 2022 I had to put in a no fault claim because someone rammed into me head-on on a farm road and both cars were written off!
Both cars had all front airbags deployed and the other driver sent his apologies through his wife for causing the accident because he was clearly on the wrong side of the road. The police told me as well that the other driver accepted liability. In bad accidents like mine, you are likely to rely on the police to recover the car to a local garage because you find yourself surrounded by paramedics trying to give you the best care you need and being rushed off to hospital. This is where you are likely to run into difficulties getting what marshmallow promised in your package. I was badly injured but was ready to drive in less than 7days but there was no courtesy car as stated on my policy. Their reason for refusing me a courtesy car was that, the local recovery the police used means it will take some time for your smashed car to get to their APPROVED GARAGE and until that happens you simply don't get a courtesy car! When that condition was eventually satisfied, I was referred to the third party insurer for a courtesy car!
For a no fault collision with final police report in hand in less than 3months, marshmallow continued to hold my excess of £550 for almost 10 months for reasons best known to them.
You'll need to find an insurer with proven reviews on how helpful they can be to drivers when needed not just a lower quote!”

“Marshmallow are great at taking your money! But like any service company, you only see how good they are when something goes wrong and they are appalling. Contact by phone or live chat takes hours ! They do not reply to emails! My claim is on-going and its been 18 months ! Do NOT be swayed by their low policy rates - they are useless and should not be allowed to trade.”
