“Avoid like the plague as this company is scam company ripping people off for deposit money. Had an email yesterday saying I had till 3pm today to send proof of occupation, sent my engineering qualification which wasn't enough apparently, was then given a week to send vat number to then have a cancellation email this morning saying my policy will be cancelled today! Not even been insured with them a week! So they better give me my refund. Il be filing legal proceedings also on this company as they cant get away with stuff like this especially during these times!”
“I bought a policy from Marshamallow by the link of Moneysurpermarket, after I bought my policy they ask me to prove my no claim discount of 2 years, there I send them a 3 years no claim discount 1 year I got from my first personel car, the other 2 years I got it with my van, when I send it to them someone with the name of John answer me and his answer were we can't accept your 2 years no claim discount with the van we have to raise your premium if you don't want you can cancel your policy, where I had to Cancel the policy and went again to Moneysurpermarket.com and again marshmallow were the cheaper I bought another policy by raising my voluntary excess and got away with a cheaper policy with a 1year no claim discount, but the next day again John send me a Email we have to raise your premium because your 1year no claim discount we can't accept it because it's old we don't know if you claim from insurance before. My answer were this 1 years ncd is my first year of Driving in UK after that I had a van for two years and here I am. No we can't accept it, accept we raise the premium if not here the link to cancel your policy we don't force you to stay with us, That was his answer... I am WARNING ANYONE WHO IS FOREIGNERS TO BE VERY CAREFUL WITH MARSHAMALLOW INSURANCE COMPANY, thier target is the foreigners because they know you don't know anything about insurance and most of you when you here and looking for insurance you are looking for a cheap one, they are always cheap that's to get you like a fish, when you buy the policy they make sure they ask you to prove yourself by taking a photo of your passport and a selfie to make sure you are a FOREIGNERS and then they attack to rob you by using Algorithm they call it.

“Web based company. Registration ok, but their site didn't recognize my car's plate Number although the car is about for 5 yrs and is otherwise recognized elsewhere. Had to do all via a comparison site. Really nice customer service though. All was dealt with quickly, no delays, helpfully.
After several months I needed to change my email address and that cannot be done within the account, online. Knowing a little bit about online security, I wasn't feeling comfortable at all, typing all my details-name, DOB, plate Number, policy number and my email into the chat so that the customer team could change my e-mail. Again however, it was dealt with swiftly and with real interest. Changing the same, just e-mail with their finance partner, was pure rubbish. Although nice and prompt, their customer service people had no idea what to do! Got stuck with them for days. Again this wasn't possible to change on line.
All in all it would seem that the web side of things could be improved, and customer service team was Excellent so far. Haven't had a claim so can't share the experience.”
“Read This before you buy insurance for this company..
I purchased car insurance from Marshmallow purely based on the reviews I read over here.( even though I had few cheaper quotes).
This company only sounds good as long as you don’t have to deal with the accident claim. Once your claim process starts they are as dirty as any other low grade insurance provider.
Please remember they don’t deal with your claim process but there will be at least 12 other companies you will have to deal with.
I made a claim on 19th March following an accident. The claim number mentioned in Marshmallow’s certificate is some another company called RTA, they will process part and then you will be asked to called Mulsanne Insurance, eventually the claim will be again handled by a company called Key Claims and then there will be company called AIA garage to assess the damage to your car. So if these guys do not have any slot/time to assess your car, you will be left in Limbo till then( Most of the time their diaries are full so expect at least a week to 10 days before they assess your car). In short, you will be busy calling each one of them at least 4-5 times in a day for next few days. The pain is, every time different companies will call, we will have to explain the entire accident story over and over again and this is very draining and stressful.
Also, there will be few legal solicitors companies affiliated to these insurance( these guys will pass all your details to them and eventually they will chase and hunt you down for personal injury claim).
So the crux of the claim process is – Its so complex and confusing that you don’t know whom to call or ask for help or even to check the progress of your claim. Take their policy and if you claim, rest assured that you will be running around like a headless chicken and feel frustrated.
Even though my Marshmallow insurance says that I am eligible for a courtesy car, I was never given one. Oh yes – This is allowed only after the garage as assessed your car… until then.. walk, cycle or take local transport( in peak of pandemic )
3 Month after the accident-
On 15th June, I received another email from Marshmallow asking me to pay to cancel the insurance? Sounds ridiculous .. isn’t? Well.. I told them I have already paid the access of £350 which was deducted from my claim money I have received.( Even though the accident was not my fault, they still charged me the money).
On 20th June – I found out that Marshmallow held my credit card details and without my consent or approval they unlawfully charged £50 from my credit card. ( The cowboy way !!! )..
They are £50 richer by nicking the money from my account but I hope they don’t stay in this business for very long and I do not want to wish them well..”

Insured my car with Marshmallow a few weeks ago, provided all the documents they required.
Yesterday I received an email from marshmallow requesting proof of my employment, which I provided (Employee Information and my working email which includes my title etc.).
Today they sent an email saying that they'll cancel my policy and charge me £75 cancellation fee.
On my requests to explain or number of the customer service, the contact person called Velma, said:
We're purely web based company, so it'll be difficult for me to call you.
She could not provide me with clear reason for cancellation.
It is my first experience of cancellation of the policy without any adequate reasons and I'll definitely file complain with the ombudsman.
All my follow up emails were ignored by Velma so far.”
