“The company itself is good, however i have had multiple issues with their carrier who delivers the products.
The actaul meats are of fabulous quality, however ive had 3 deliveries now where the drivers have left my parcel on a patio without knocking on the door, ringing the bell or otherwise making contact on drop-off, with 2 orders being utterly spoiled.
This has been raised and i hope its just my local delivery personnel.
The actual meat is really good quality and is of reasonable prices.”
Thanks for the review. You didn't say how you cooked, or intended to cook, the diced goat on the bone but it is only really appropriate for a curry or stew. I see that you also ordered ox liver, beef brisket and pork mince, so we hope that they were more enjoyable and you will review those products as well.
As noted in our reply to your product review for the pheasant, which disappointed you, we have applied a credit to your account so you can try it when it is fresh in season from October. We note that you also ordered spatchcock partridge and Sutton hoo chicken, which you have not reviewed, so if you liked them you could add a review for them as well.
We are disappointed with the images of the chicken, which looks well below the quality standards we set. It is a shame that you did not contact us direct with the images when the order arrived as we would have taken immediate action. Nonetheless we will talk to our supplier and our pickers/packers about how this product was not picked up by our quality control process.
In the product review of the fillet steaks, you were disappointed by the size of the steaks and the leakage of some blood from the packaging.
The size of the steaks were described as 150g each, so if they were smaller than that please let us know. Apologies that some blood had leaked from the pack but it should not have affected the flavour.
“Whilst the quality of meat was good, my order arrived 24 hours later than planned & thankfully being winter, the order was still cool when it arrived. I rang The Wild Meat Co to say it was being delivered 24 hours late & needed it for the date given so had to change my menu which was frustrating. Never heard back from the company having left my message.”
I am sorry that your meat was delayed and that you did not get a response to your answerphone message. Emails are usually more reliable for contacting us out of office hours, but there was not much we could have done if the courier is delayed.
We advised in our order confirmation email sent to you on 9 February that
"Orders are delivered by 24-hour courier, who will endeavour to deliver on the date requested, however delays may occasionally occur, especially during bad weather (e.g. snow) or peak periods (e.g. Christmas). If a potential delay would be an issue for you and you would prefer to amend or cancel your order, please call us ASAP on 01728 687627."
We also advise on our website to order your meat the day before you need it to allow for any delays.

“the meat arrived in a good state but i feel the pakaging ould be more eo friendly.The quality was good and flavour niely gamey but i need to pratie ooking it a bit as it was little tough or maybe my teeth are not what they used to be. I wold also appreiate guidance on saues to prepare for the different birds. The wild boar burgers were absolutely dekiious.”
Thank you for your review and we would welcome any suggestions as to how to make our packaging more eco-friendly. We have explored every possible avenue which is affordable and effective for a 24-48 hour cool time and have not found better options yet.
Game can be tougher than farmed meats and therefore does need to be cooked carefully. Guidance for cooking all our game products is available on our website under 'cooking guidance'.
“Offers a wide range of meats, a fair price and a good delivery time. The quality could be a little better for some of their offerings and the descriptions need a little work too. For example, the venison sausages were 20% venison with the rest bulked up with pork. The cooking instructions need to be more specific to get the best of the roasting joints.”

Thank you for your review but we are not sure what you mean by the bird (the order was for a pheasant, not a partridge) "appears not to have been pulled properly". We always ask our customers to send us an image/photo with any product concerns so that we can get to the bottom of any issues.
“Delicious products, but I had a bad experience with failed delivery, and the WMC's cavalier attitude to customer convenience.
I stayed at home all day on the specified date, in anticipation of the imminent arrival of my order, but it wasn't delivered until the afternoon of the next day, so I wasted the first day, and then had to stay pinned to the house a second time.
On arrival, the pigeon and teal I'd ordered were useable, but the saddle of hare was smelly and very bloody. The meat had been in transit for at least 2 days, in a week that's been very hot. I had to discard the hare, so the WMC refunded that cost, but they didn't offer even a partial refund on the £11.95 delivery charge, so for £9.90's worth of game bird, I paid £21.85, and incurred a good deal of inconvenience. Naturally, I'm not delighted.
FedEx, the WMC's chosen courier, is impossible for a parcel recipient to communicate with, and they didn't add the directions I supplied to the box, or transmit them to their driver. I'm not a significant WMC customer, I just place an occasional order when I want a change, but in future I'll look a bit harder in my local area for game.”
I am very sorry to hear that we have been let down by Fedex. I appreciate that you are disappointed that we didn't offer a partial refund on the delivery cost but the money we refunded you for the game bird is lost to us. Fedex do not refund us so we have lost money in refunding you through no fault of our own.
Over the last 20 years we have tried all the courier companies and I am afraid none of them are perfect (3% failures or late on average). None of them provide compensation for their failures with perishable products. We do offer a choice between Fedex and DHL but we have not found that one is better than the other.
I have sent you a gift voucher to your email address to the value of the partial refund which you could use if you wanted to try us again.
