BTOD Akir Chair w/ Mesh Back and Fabric Seat Reviews

4.5 Rating 117 Reviews
Bought for our son for Christmas and he finds chair uncomfortable with no preset tilt being the right fit. Swapped chair to husband and lack of upper back/shoulder support causes neck strain.

The cushion is phenomenal! The armrests are stiff but that doesn't bother me. The base is where it's lacking. The back is uncomfortable, it's not straight at all. To be flat on the back, you would have to push your shoulders very far back, defeating the purpose of a straight posture. Lumbar is also too aggressive. Going to stay with this chair for now but wish the back was better. All in all, 7/10.

We own 3 of these chairs. After I got mine our son wanted one and then my wife wanted one to replace her old chair. The seat cushion is incredibly comfortable, almost like a couch cushion. I don't understand why more chair manufacturers don't make their seat cushions like this. I actually wish it was a bit thicker as I'm 230 pounds and it does still very slightly bottom out after using it for about two years now, though it's still way more comfortable than any other chair I've tried. The back rest is quite comfortable too, similar to an Aeron. I also really like the optional head rest. I highly recommend this chair.

Pros. Lots of adjustability. Back mesh and headrest mesh work out great. The material on the armrest feels like a good material that will last for a few years. Cons. The arm rests are already loose and squeaking and slide around. The headrest is missing a key axis for adjustment in that you cannot move it horizontal to the floor. It can move up and down and tilt but not forward and backwards. The cushion on the chair has questionable integrity. While breathable, the quality feels underwhelming. Overall: The chair will do the job and should provide a few years of comfort. I would suspect that serious issues would arise after year 2. Chair feels slightly better than a low range model, but with mid-range prices. I understand the compromise with cost on the chair, but a little more spend on the quality of the cushion and adjustability of the headrest could go a long way.

Without question I would do business with BTOD again. This chair however was not a perfect fit for me. I am tall and while the height was great, the seat depth was a little short for me.

I was a little unsure if I should believe the reviews given I had never heard of BTOD, but I have to say that this is the most comfortable office chair I've used during my 20+ year career.

I typically never write a review especially a bad review as I often wonder if they actually get published, I guess we will see!!.. First Construction it was ok however I noticed that after sitting in several other chairs from different manufacturers that it was very light in construction even though it looked like it was well built. The actual weight of the chair I ended up with was extremely heavier in construction than the one that I eventually sent back. As far as comfort is concerned that's the main reason that I sent it back it was seriously uncomfortable especially for that price point. The last issue was price !! how could they sell a chair for that price when all the other chairs in that Comfort Range were much much cheaper. I actually went down to an office supply and ended up sitting in several chairs and ending up spending about half the price that I paid for this chair. customer service was the only Golden Light they were really great and sent instructions for me to repack this chair and send it back to them I'm currently waiting for my money however so we'll see how that goes

I'm 5'7 115lbs and wfh/game, so I'm at my desk most of the day. This seat plus the headrest is comfortable over long periods of time. I keep the seat all the way back so I'm able to sit upright, and the lower back support is fantastic"”I was specifically looking for a chair that kept me in an engaged position and this one does it. The variety of movement and adjustable height of the armrests are wonderful. The only drawback that made me give 4/5 stars is the hard plastic armrests. I had to buy foam pads that slip over them to keep my elbows cushioned, but a $20 pair was all it took. Happy with my purchase!
