The list of owls present during most winters is very impressive; Great Gray, Great Horned, Snowy and Northern Hawk-owl, with always a possibility of Eastern Screech-owl, Short-eared Owl and Northern Saw-whet Owl. “It was an excellent birding trip in Southern Manitoba. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. I had the opportunity to view a few lifers. It was a pleasure to spend the week with some lovely individuals that share similar interests.”

“It was very organized, the participants were lovely and we saw owls and all sorts of other birds. The vans were comfortable and we were never crowded. Manitoba is beautiful.”

“It was a great trip! I worried that I might freeze or slip and fall but I followed tour advice and had plenty of clothes plus my poles which I never really needed. We were driven through and to great birding spots and I was amazed and delighted with all the birds we saw. Fun people, very experienced guides. I would highly recommend.”

“The tour leaders (Ken de Smet and Alvin Dyck) did a wonderful job. They were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the trip. I have never done any winter birding before and they made the tour a memorable experience. Snowy Owls, Sharp-tailed grouse on a lek and so much more. Great experience.”

“The guides worked tirelessly to give us owl and other bird sightings. Participants should understand that the majority of their time will be spent driving from a potential sighting area to the next - often with a good payoff! Accommodations were great as were meals and guides’ knowledge and friendliness.”
