Feb 27 - Mar 3, 2026 | Southeastern Manitoba has become one of the premier locations on the continent for locating northern forest owls. The list of owls present during most winters is very impressive; Great Gray, Great Horned, Snowy and Northern Hawk-owl, with always a possibility of Eastern Screech-owl, Short-eared Owl and Northern Saw-whet Owl. Join us on a bird watching adventure as we search for these beautiful birds.

Great birding tour, added 12 new birds to my life list. The guides were excellent and made sure we saw as much as possible!

We saw five different species of owls, which were the focus of the trip, but the Sharp-tailed Grouse were also a special treat -- to watch them do their courtship displaying in a snow-covered field from the comfort of the van in the early morning light was one of the highlights of the trip. The guides were consistently helpful as I navigated the van, the snowy and icy roads, and the various long hallways in hotels with my recently-acquired cane.

We were very well looked after and chauffeured from spot to spot in two very comfortable vans with plenty of room for gear. I was thrilled to see all four of my target owls - I would have been happy with just two! We got great views of Great Gray, Northern Hawk, Snowy, Eastern Screech and Great Horned Owls. There were so many Snowy Owls that we almost lost count. Other highlights were dancing Sharp-tailed Grouse, hordes of Redpolls and several White-tailed Jackrabbits. Rudolf and Ken are great and really know their home turf.

The program was delivered as advertised. We spotted 11 snowy owls, 6 great grey owls 3 hawk owls and one eastern screech owl. The guides were well prepared, knowlegible and easy going. Be prepared for long and extremely cold conditions.

Wonderful daytime views of owls with the guidance of two experienced Manitoba guides. Following the gear suggestions from Eagle Eye, I wasn't cold one second though the temperature dipped well below 0 Fahrenheit. Good company, small group, and 22 snowy owls in one morning all added to the fun. Also saw winter bird specialties, lekking grouse, and mammals. I only missed crossbills from my hoped for species. Sort and sweet.
