“This is my third scooter in less than a year. All from FFR!
My 1st one was a ‘Citi-Rider' just not the right fit. I then got a ‘Horizon' which was a workhorse. I put on 1100 miles in about 9 months. I used it in conjunction with the subway. And it worked out well. Manhattan streets are rough especially after a bad winter. I thought I could use better suspension with longer range and more power. I was eyeing the Apollo Ghost. I visited FFR in Brooklyn, hopeful to find one I could check out. They did not have one. Chuck from FFR recommended the Mantis in that price range. I demo'd a Pro. I could not get over how PLUSH the suspension was. The power was addicting!
I ended up going with the Standard Mantis Gen II / 60V 18.2Ah.
I sell wine & spirits for a living. I run around seeing accounts mainly between Fidi & 62nd street. The battery is plenty for me, I can go two days on a full charge. I find some of our streets are some what ‘off road' conditions. The suspension is excellent, maybe a touch bouncy. An air dampened suspension might be better but it would add weight and cost. The weight is reasonable at 61lbs.
The difference between the base and pro model.
I found the pro was jumpy and the base more linear as far as power delivery. You can play with the P7 setting to make it more punchy. But you seem to lose a touch of power toward the top. Brakes are hydraulic assist. Once adjusted, they work well and have pretty good feel. However more effort is needed versus the full hydraulics. I may swap to full hydraulic brakes in the future. But for now I'm content with them. I already have 250 miles on it with no issues. No more monthly MTA card!
Chuck and the team at FFR in Brooklyn and Edgar in Miami were so helpful.
Buy from FFR if you want service. They have plenty of choices to fit anyone's needs. They are countless mail order places that don't even pick up the phone.

“I'm deeply frustrated and disappointed. The scooter arrived without the wires for the lights connected properly. I'm trying to get help on how to remedy this, but I'm not getting a response to my messages. This is not good!”
Hi Jason - We are sorry to hear that you are having a bad experience. I just checked and saw that our support is in contact with you. Please get back to them regarding the instructions for the correct wiring and brake adjustment. Thanks!
“Im a construction worker in Boston so I go to jobs were it cost me usually 30$ to park. So I park at my union hall and take the scooter to the job. Im a bigger guy at 235 lbs and I have this scooter going 38 mph no problem. I highly recommend it.”
“I recieved my wheel but rubber covers on my awesome Mantis scooter, and I'm so happy with it! The company is A+ in my book, and I plan on getting the Wolf scooter next time. I'm still waiting for another 60V17.5AH battery which is out of stock but i don't mind waiting . I'm also waiting for the thumb speed throttle when they come out for the Mantis. If ever Fluidfreeride opens any shop out west, I'd gladly open one up in Las Vegas for all the Fluidfreeriders in the west/mountain state area.
Sincerely,
Sergio F Palencia”
