“I have been an electric bike user for the past several years. I loved it so much, my wife and I sold our cars and used the bikes as our sole transportation for the past 2 years. Recently, I took on a client in an area of town difficult to access by e-bike (requires some freeway travel). I had been taking the train and hoping that a scooter share or bike share would be available at the other end. Since I am not a big fan of relying on the scooter/bike share programs I decided to purchase my own scooter. After some painstaking research I came across the Mantis V2 and on paper it fit every requirement. It had great power, adequate range and I could easily carry it on the train.
After taking delivery of my mantis a week or two ago, I must say it lives up to the advertisements and then some. This thing is powerful. It is a blast to turn both motors on blast down the road (Of course, only in a safe manner observing all applicable laws/regulations).
There are much cheaper high quality scooters out there but for me this is the perfect mix of performance and portability that will keep me using it even when I don't have to get on the train.”
“I bought the Mantis Pro V2 and love this scooter; it has transformed my commute from three carsick hours on public transport to an hour of pure joy and speed - sometimes I take the long way just to enjoy the ride a little longer. As a woman in her mid-50s, I am well outside the usual scope of Mantis V2 riders but I appreciate build quality and performance, both of which this scooter has in spades.
I commute in San Francisco so I needed a scooter that could safely power me up and down some pretty steep hills (over 20% grades) which I now regularly scoot up at 25mph. There is some smugness as I fly past lesser scooters walking in disappointment...
Yes, it is heavy and I do haul it up and down 18 steps everyday but it is manageable and well worth it. With the wide deck and sturdy stem, it feels stable even at higher speeds, rough streets and emergency stops.
For which I should say, pay attention to the ride safety videos out there before you take it out because the acceleration is blistering if you are not prepared and it will come out from under you or try to if you stand up straight and hit the brakes without shifting your weight back properly. You cannot ride this thing passively like a rental scooter, you need to pay attention and be proactive.
The high mounted light makes it more visible to drivers, at least they seem to take more notice of me. The turn indicators and brake lights (which flash when you are stopped and holding the brake lever down) also appear to be also noticed and respected by car drivers. At least I have not come close to being run over, yet. You do need to take the time to adjust the controls to your liking so you can operate them by feel.
All in all, I am well pleased with this scooter after some 65 miles and have only one complaint that they would move away from the trigger finger throttle which I find a bit tiresome and awkward with my small hands. Otherwise, it is fast and powerful for the steepest of hills I want to go up, it will stop on a dime, it is maneuverable and feels stable on the roughest roads and is just a pleasure to ride.”
“Outstanding Scooter!
I recently purchased the kaabo mantis V2 fluid and man, this thing is incredible! I've had it a couple weeks now and I cannot believe how amazing the acceleration, the ride comfort, the durability, everything works as advertised. Also, I received the scooter four days after I ordered it and I live in California. I am so happy with my purchase. Ironically, I had to send the Apollo city pro back after having it for days. Had to go through a bunch of hoops to do it. mantis and fluid free ride is a really good decision”
“The scooter has amazing handling, riding is smooth, and battery pretty good (LG) however, one issue with my unit is that it came with a mildly warped Front Rotor, Scooter made a scratching sound in the front caliper, but after some milage, it smoothed out and no longer made that sound. nonetheless, its a pretty good scooter!”
“This thing feels very well built. The power is very good! The brakes are strong as hell. A bit sensitive possibly. But that's exactly what gives me confidence when another vehicle shows up unexpectedly.
The one issue I've had has been the throttle. Would get stuck when first got it. But it loosened up and was fine. Today, funny enough the throttle kinda went limp. I did bring my multi tool that fluidfreeride gave me with the scooter and was able to unscrew and see that the spring had come unseated. I was able to get it back in the right spot and the throttle works well now! Whew. Overall, I just keep thinking of things "I need to go do" just to ride it. In the morning when cars aren't around is my favorite time to cruise.
I cannot imagine wanting more power, frankly. I've never come close to running out of charge. Everything, minus the throttle issues have been great.”
“This is my first scooter. I've ridden many in various cities and wanted one of my own for quick transportation and fun.
PROS
This is fast at a top speed of 42mph. Most of the time once I've ridden a little it tops out at 37-38. It's very heavy so not the best for folding and carrying on a bus or train but it's a solid build and feels like it will last a long time.
CONS
The brakes are very touchy since they are electric assisted. I'm hoping after looking further into the manual I can adjust the sensitivity. It grabs too hard so I usually have to apply softly, let off and then reapply. Also, at high speeds (over 30mph) it starts to develop a wobble that gets more serious at full top speed. It comes and goes but gives you white knuckles for sure! Wish there was a stabilizer to help.
Overall I like the scooter and would recommend for someone who wants a fast ride with a solid build.”
