MANTIS 2025 - fluid Edition Legacy Trigger Throttle Display 18.2Ah - 33 miles range Reviews

4.5 Rating 470 Reviews
The scooter arrived in good condition and everything was as expected. As noted in the instructions several of the screws needed tightening. I watched the tutorials several times in order to get the knack of it. I found it odd that they were not more intuitive, but that is not a criticism, just an observation and a reminder that it is important to listen to the tutorials. I am 205 pounds and noticed right away that I definitely needed both motors on and turbo engaged in order to get up the hills here in Seattle. The ride is much better than I expected and I have no issues. The motors, torque and brakes all seem well suited for hauling me around. I did have one small issue with the power button sticking and not being responsive, it seemed fine after waiting for the controller to time out. It has happened about 4 times, we will see if this is a fluke or a recurrent problem. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. It is sturdy, well built and an excellent value for the money. I think if I was to do it over again I would upgrade to the mini motors controller, more because at the time of purchase I was not sure I was going to like it that much. Now that I have has it for a few weeks I like the machine and would have no problem investing a few hundred more to get the best. I think the stand out features on this scooter are the solid stem and the rear flair that allows you to put your aft foot at an angle, it makes it like riding a snowboard vs just standing there.

First impressions: Heavy, solidly built, smooth riding, fast! The first thing you notice when unpacking the scooter is how solid and heavy it is. Nothing seems cheap on it. Riding is very smooth, throttle is smooth, suspension seems like it has an endless amount of travel without being too "floaty" in its feel. Top speed is fast, I've gotten it up to 37 mph, still had more but I was running out of safe road. I have no doubt it can hit 40 mph. Range: I haven't tested from full to empty yet, but in my approx. 10 mile trips, battery use was about 15%, with hills and mixed speeds. Very satisfied with that. Brakes are smooth, strong, and powerful. No complaints there. Cons: the folding mechanism is a little cumbersome and still has a little bit of flex. The two quick release closures have to be cinched very tight. While the ground effect lights are bright, the rear tail light, brake light, and front light are incredibly weak. I did order an addition forward facing light. The regenerative braking is incredibly "grabby" on its strongest setting, you can go over the bars, if you're not prepared for it. The regenerative braking engages with a slight pull of the brake lever but unlike the actual brakes which are smooth and progressive, the regenerative braking comes on all of a sudden. Not sure if the technology exists to also make the regenerative braking progressive just like the actual brakes, but that would be a real plus! Lastly, the eco/turbo and single/dual motor button is confusing because one has to be in and the other out for max and min settings. Conclusion: This is a high quality well made scooter, that's fast. I don't plan to utilize the max speed very much, but the power is incredible. I take off from lights on an uphill, faster than cars. I can maintain my comfortable commuting speed (in the 20-25 mph range) up any hill I encounter in NYC and there are almost an infinite amount of power, speed, and torque settings.

I have used the scooter around 10 times now both for short (2-5 miles) and longer trips (5-20 miles). The acceleration, branking and overall perforformance are great. The battery level varies along the ride (once you read manual you realize it is difficult to measure baterry level precisely). What could improve: 1. When you plug in battery there is NO indication that the scooter is actually charging, once I left it plugged in incorrectly entire night and could not tell it was improperly connected. 2. Rear wheel vibrates a lot: when I ride in cobble covered streets it makes a lot of noise, perhaps you need to tweak design in rear shock system.

This is thing is super powerful and lots of fun to ride. Pros: - more than enough power. You'll likely to find this thing like trying to ride a bucking bronco out of the box. I recommend you immediately leave it in eco-mode and/or single-motor mode until you get used to it and gradually increase the power settings. Even now I ride it eco-mode every day because full power feels a little dangerous. - excellent suspension - I rode a WideWheels before this and had some much trouble on the cut-up roads in my area. This thing handles small bumps with ease. You still have to be careful over medium-sized potholes, but we're talking about holes that would send you crashing in anything like a WideWheels or less. - Excellent customer service - I had to resolve some issues with my WideWheels and they always responded immediately and don't hesitate to send you replacement parts free of charge. - Braking is top-notch in the Pro Version (with hydraulic brakes, can't speak to the base version). Having two physical brakes is the only way to be safe in my opinion. Cons: - Trigger throttle - not the most ergonomic. It's hard to hold a slow jogging pace because it's so twitchy. And if you have a scare and squeeze the handlebars you're probably going to accidentally throttle pull the throttle more. I would have much preferred a thumb throttle. In fact, I would like FFR to create a thumb throttle modification for purchase. - needs some adjustment out of the box. I'm currently working through the issue where the throttle won't work after squeezing the brakes sometimes. It's fixably by adjustment, but I thought I fixed it yesterday and

I absolutely love this scooter it has fantastic suspension and can handle potholes with ease. The dual motors are able to climb some serious hills one of which is a 20% grade. The breaks are very good not at all aggressive and stop efficiently. I have had the opportunity several times not to ride at top speed and it handles and maneuvers very well at 40mph. The fast charger is something that I am now looking into since it will take several hours to charge and often that is a bit too much time however the battery life is fantastic even for the base model and I have gone without charging for the whole day with no problem. My only major complaint is that the rear fender in all versions of this scooter does not cover the rear tire enough to prevent debris and water from flying up on to you. I have had the unfortunate experience of getting stuck in a light rain and though the scooter was completely fine I was soaked in the rear. It is definitely something that Kaabo needs to improve as it would literally require an extra 3in of plastic to achieve an efficient rain guard. My only other thing that I wish the scooter had were more accessories such as off-road tires and the ability to attach an external battery to it both are not super essential since most bike accessories will work and the range is fine but it would be nice to have the option of extending the battery for longer rides. All in all the Mantis is a fantastic ride!

The mat on the mantis comes off very easily without meaning to with is very upsetting and the weight of the scooter is heavy so I wouldn't really recommend it to people with a lot stairs in their home but besides that this thing is beast and everyone will be stopping to ask where did you get it
