“The first issue I had was that the delivery service Fluid used, FedEx, they would not delivery the package and they would lie about attempts and try hard to made me pick it up at their convenient locations. Convenient for them but not for me. Then when i complained enough times they finally delivered it on a Sunday. Receiving the package it look like it was repacked and I discovered the owner's manual missing so I had to download it on the internet, not a problem. Everything else seemed in order and I wasn't missing any parts but the packaging materials was in shambles but nothing broken but the stem had scratches on it that i will have to live with it because I don't want to deal with the hassle of returning it.”
“This scooter is a major upgrade from my beginner Xiaomi Mi PRO-2. The old scooter went 20mph downhill (with firmware flashed) and 6mph uphill. The new one goes 42mph downhill (stock firmware) and 36mph uphill. I now ride in traffic with cars not next to them and am passing slow ones. Things to keep in mind with this scooter:
1. If you ride with your back foot across the deck the scooter will wobble at speed. You have to ride with both feet in line on the deck.
2. Body weight transfer forward when accelerating and backward when braking is necessary with dual-motor performance mode.
3. You have to know how to use both rear and front brakes well. You need them both if you have to stop in a hurry. Don't enable the electronic throttle brake because if you get used to that you won't be able to manage the real brakes when you really need them work. It would be a good idea to practice maximum braking drills in an empty parking lot with this scooter just like good motorcycle riders do periodically.
4. A simple bike helmet is completely inadequate protection with this scooter. I was already wearing a motorcycle helmet and gloves on my old scooter and with this one I feel I need motorcycle pants nd jacket (with abrasion resistance and armor in the right places). It will not feel good to crash on this scooter at anything above 20mph without that level of protection.
5. Be sure to spend the time to tune the angle of all the adjustable handlebar items. You don't want to be distracted trying to see or press these when they are not pointed the right way.
6. The clamp that locks the steering stem into the deck that you have to undo to fold the scooter and vice-versa is annoying to use compared to the Xiaomi Mi PRO-2. Unlocking the stem on that scooter took 5 sec and this one takes 5 min to get everything fully tight. They need a better stem clamp that is faster to unlock and lock.
7. Fluidfreeride should sell a car transport block for this scooter. Without this it moves around in your car when being transported making black marks on everything. They should offer some 3D printed something that you just set the folded scooter into and it stays put in the trunk or cargo deck of your car.
All in all this scooter is great ‚Äî as long as it doesn't kill me.”
“I am blown away by this scooter. Mind you, and this is my first ES. I was looking for a mode of local transportation. From time to time, I will go into NYC for work and meetings, and driving in to find parking is getting way too much. So take the train in and use the scooter to get around. I have been riding the V2 for about a week, both nighttime and daytime. The power this V2 has is incredible. A smoother ride than expected. Easy to control and very smooth acceleration. Suppose you're looking for power, speed, and fun. Get this scooter. I have to say that the hand bar size you can not find different types of bars is negative. Customer service has been excellent and helpful. They have been a great help.”
“I now have 200+ miles on my v2 24.5ah, only issue I had out of the box was the rear brake needed more hydraulic fluid and the headlight issue popped up for me. Once I notified the support team they reached back out pretty quick and provided the replacement part needed for the controller and the brake fluid to correct the line. The regen brake helps with so much in NYC since people like to stop short and I've rarely used the front brakes since the regen is pretty responsive, just don't expect to not skid if you're going more than 30 mph and you're trying to stop with less than 10ft of clearance. I can get a good 20miles on a full charge riding aggressively (side note riding as a 170lbs with gear) only issue I'm seeing right now is making sure the clamp stays on the neck and the threads on the clamps are getting a little worn in already if it's not tight enough the collar will shift! It's a great buy and reliable, if you need to ride in the rain you need an extra 10-15ft for stopping without skidding but if you use both brake it will stop you pretty quick I just don't like squaring the tires out. Really want to put on 10x3in tires on with hybrid off road tires though it would help so much with all the potholes and gravel.”
“I bought a Mantis Pro. It was great at first - powerful, smooth, fun. After about two weeks and only 60 miles of use, it died on me mid commute making me late for work and stuck in a bad part of town. I contacted Fluid and they responded to ask if it had gotten wet. I told them no and they just never responded again. I've sent multiple follow up emails, texts, and calls - no response ever. They don't even acknowledge receipt. I'll update if I ever hear back, but as far as I can tell, this is a poorly made product and a store that offers absolutely no help when their products fail.”
Hi Benjamin - I am sorry to hear about the issues with your scooter. Just checked your case and saw that our support team got back to you informing that we will replace your Mantis. Our team will walk you through the return/replace process. BR
“Let me start by saying I love my Mantis. I purchased the mantis 10 and I love riding it. It's everything it claims to be and is all around an awesome scooter.
3 weeks in, I hit a huge pothole and damage the back disc rotor, and rear deck cover. Fixing these things has been a time consuming, annoying process. The customer support agents don't know about repairs and always have to refer to the mechanics team (which may or may not be busy).... The screws I need don't come with the spare parts nor are they available to purchase. There's also not a store anywhere around me that has the screws I need.
If you purchase, just be careful. It's very frustrating to try and fix your main method of transportation relying on this company.”
