“I commute 1.2 miles each way daily through a residential neighborhood. The Mantis Pro was a huge upgrade from my entry level scooter. I travel at 30 mph with ease. The scooter has great acceleration without activating dual battery mode. It is scary fast when both batteries are activated...the wheels spin out a little. Hang on! I weigh 200 lbs and the scooter indeed gets me up to 40 mph in dual battery mode... as advertised. The batteries do run out much faster though. The range is shorter for me than advertised, but I ride fast. The display is nice and flashes with plenty of warning, letting you know it's time to charge.
Downsides for me include the trigger throttle. I accidentally hit the break instead of the throttle once and strained a shoulder. It is harder to adjust speed with the trigger. The ride is relatively smooth on the legs, but every crack in the pavement is still passed on through the handlebar, which is clearly more noticeable at high speeds. Consequently forward and rear turn signals would be nice. It is a little challenging holding on with one hand to a shaking handlebar while making a hand turn signal.
Overall, this is a nice scooter for the experienced rider who likes a fast ride. This is certainly not a scooter for the beginner or the stiff-white-knuckled-fearful rider.”
“I bought a mantis pro early in the spring. its a fantastic scooter and amazing to ride. unfortunately I was hit by a car and completely wrecked the scooter. this was in early summer. For the last 6 months i have been going back and forth constantly with dozens of emails, phone calls and back and forth nonsense. for context I live in Canada, so shipping the scooter back was already a hassle, having to pay for customs, shipping fees, and repairs and whatnot. I send the scooter, which promptly got stuck at the border due to customs fees and paper work not existing. the customs officer assuring me it is the company that should be filling these things out according to the label that fuildfreeride sent me. i spent over a week in an email chain getting vague responses and dozens of transfers to other representatives without ever getting useful help. okay, fine. so the scooter was sent back to me. i found a place nearby that happened to fix mantis scooters but needed the parts from fluid freeride. so after spending approximately 4 months going back and forth with fluid, being sent the wrong parts a few times, being charged twice for for shipping and customs fees EVERY time i had an order, and not having the parts i need after 6 months of this. i can safely say that this is without a doubt the worst customer service ive ever experienced. ive spent so much money on parts that i didnt need and cant use, that arent worth sending back because id lose more money shipping it back than i would with a refund. at the moment i am still waiting for a part that i ordered over a month ago. i havent received any confirmation or shipment notifications. (but they've taken my money already). The only reason i haven't given up on this endeavor is because i dont have any other options.
regarding constructive feedback for Fluid Freeride:
first: please. for the love of god, update your damn online store part selection. just add the parts so i can order them myself and not go through 4 phone calls and 2 emails to get the right part in my cart.
second: dont charge me for included shipping and customs fees if i have to pay the damn fees a second time through DHL and apparently get a refund (of not the full amount) by emailing you a copy of the receipt!
and finally please change the song that plays while on hold. the shortest damn loop ive ever heard and sounds like it was recorded by someone you found on the street who really wanted to try being an musician.
Thanks for nothing,
have a nice day”
“The scooter is great and fast, very fast given the price and weight category. One small negative (which could be a positive for somebody) is that acceleration is coming from that power. The acceleration is very fast and jerky. If you are not applying a proper leaning technique the scooter can ride away from under you :)
The reason for 4 stars is really the quality assurance. The rear brake (hydraulic) is not working properly and apply almost no pressure on the rear rotor. I think I should try to remove bubbles from the hydraulic system or simply add a little more brake fluid. Other than that I would buy it again if needed or when needed.”
“Nice light weight scooter hits 35 mph very quickly takes a bit to get to 37-38 mph. I weigh 210 with clothes. The ride is pretty stable. Looking into purchasing a stabilizer. Construction seems sturdy. It folds up nicely and fits in the backseat of a Subaru WRX. If you're looking for a quick versatile lightweight scooter this is the Way to go”
Hi Cesar - We are very sorry to hear that your scooter wasn't perfect out of the box. I just checked our communication and saw that the issues are being addressed. We hope the replacement parts will get you up and scooting asap. Please let us know if you need any help installing them. BR
“I've got o say, I had more interaction with customer service than I would have liked as quickly as I did. But they knocked it out of the park!
For starters, I ordered a scooter with some extras, but didn't order the quick charge on the first go. I ordered it shortly after and it shipped separately. I received the scooter no problem, but the quick charge was not getting fed-ex updates after a couple weeks. Within a day of bringing this to Fluid Freeride's attention, they had another on it's way. It showed up in a timely fashion.
Lastly, I had the scooter for 3-5 weeks before experiencing an issue with it turning on. It would not power up, and when I plugged it in, the wheels would shift an inch or less back and forth on their own. Also the wheels had locked up and it could not be pushed. I reached out to customer service again and they asked for a video of what the scooter was doing. I sent them one and they said it was an issue they couldn't resolve by giving me directions to address it. Within another day I had a shipping slip to send the scooter back. As soon as they received it, they sent a brand new one my way!
The scooter itself had tons of power and can take my fat *ss (235 lbs) 40 mph on a flat run no problem and 30-35 mph on a steep incline. I got the pro version with fully hydraulic disk breaks that can stop you in no time. The suspension is great and is a very smooth ride at railroad crossings, speed tables, and small curbs.
My only criticism would be that there aren't any turn signal options. going 35-40 mph and taking your hand off the handles to signal your turn can feel a little dicey. I've been riding it more like a snowboard, which is a lot of fun, and it's made it easier to do so, but a signal would be nice.
The customer service was absolutely painless and top notch. I feel extremely confident in my purchase with this company. I Have had the new scooter for a couple of months with no issues. It seems as though it was just that particular unit that had issues. The response and follow through we fast and decisive. Great job guys!”
“Excellent!!! Having lots if fun. I want the wolf next.
