“Sweet flyer, lots of presence in air, bright colour scheme helps with orientation. After taking in information from YouTube, and other reviews , this plane needs a level launch, battery bay woodwork needs cutting Back to allow for 1800- 220 mah lipos .Build wise it was easy, but do remove paint from glue joints. Pity the tailplane is sloppy in the join... I used the excellent Foamtac adhesive , propped tailplane on bean tins as they dried.. problem solved.CG wise balanced mine on wing servo wires, mine is a belly landerCheers motion RC!”

“I ordered the F9F Panther, finally deciding to pop the ducted fan cherry after 35 years of R/C flying. I consider myself firmly in the "Intermediate" category of R/C Pilot so I was a little hesitant to order one of these "Speed Demons" Order it I did with the suggested accessories and everything arrived quickly in one box. Construction- Rather straightforward and the pictures will help even a rookie ARF assembler put the Panther together quickly. The included glue is a welcome thing for a new assembler, I used it an it works just fine. It'll take a few hours to get everything together, just follow the instructions a few steps ahead and you'll do fine. One gripe however the instructions have you remove the skins covering the nose wheel if you install the extra parts. This is not the case, you'll need to cut a hole in the nose wheel cover. This makes it impossible to go to a "retracted gear" after the modification.Finishing- Pretty simple here, bind your radio, set the end points and dual rates as shown in the manual and you'll do fine. I do see a potential issue with the CG. Mine came out on the button but I've installed the landing gear. This adds a bit of weight to the nose therefore without it you'll likely be adding weight to get the CG right!Flying- Proof is in the pudding and to be honest I was a little knock kneed having grown up hearing the horror stories of insanely fast, ill-tempered and generally blood pressure raising habits of a ducted fan model. After a few flights of my trusty Telemaster, I was ready to maiden the Panther. The taxi out was dead straight with no issues of ground loop or other bad habits. A few fast taxis showed that the Panther is well behaved on the ground. I was not ready for the difficulty in lifting the nose gear and feared it a bit nose heavy. A triple check of the CG said it was perfect. A little thought popped into my head that no airflow was getting over the elevator from the propeller, so taxi faster. The faster taxi worked and with the nose off the ground the Panther continued on laser straight. With confidence built up, I taxied back. Snapped a final picture and gave her the beans. Take off was a little sluggish while the fan spooled up but not to long after rotation and lift off came. She is no rocket ship but climbs well and flies fast. Expect to take a bit more room in the turns from the extra speed. A few trips around the pattern showed that the Panther is rather fast, tracks well and a little thought needs to go into the turns. Taking it high to explore slow flight and stalls was a little surprising. Pulling the power to idle and lowering the nose reveals this plane actually glides pretty well! It's no sailplane but I was surprised that it was not a winged brick. Stalls were abrupt yet gentle with a tendency to drop it's left wing. Recovery is easy with a little forward stick and add power. Landings are fast and expect to float quite a bit. My first landing was on the runway but quickly off the end and into the grass. If you see this happening DO NOT attempt to fly the plane off! It's better to go off the end of the runway, slowly and under control than to pour the coal to her, pull back and pray. The latter, in ANY model usually ends badly. The second flight was equally fun and fast, both with about four minutes of flight and power to spare. The third flight resulted in a "Flameout" after an extended flight and a little showing off. Without much warning the motor went to idle while climbing out from a touch and go. Lowering the nose and going into the grass with such a speedy model made me glad I took pictures before the first flight. A brief search yielded the Panther in four foot high wet grass with no damage. A good first day flight!Conclusion- I like this plane! It is fast but manageable for an intermediate pilot with no bad habits. Construction is quick and the included glue and instruction manual are helpful. I'm not crazy about the included hardware but it does OK. I would recommend this model to someone that has stepped up from their trainers and ready for a fast, fun third model.”

“I did a ton of research on EDF and one of the guys at our field kept telling me about Motion RC. This last weekend I finally got to get two flights on this plane. First let me say I've been flying since the mid 80's on and off so I'm a fairly good flyer, but not a big 3D flyer....yet. I knew better than to getting something that looked really cool, versus a good "Learn to fly with" EDF. I liked the F9F Panther because it had a bright tail and wingtips, therefore easier to see and I had a couple of 2200Mha 40C LiPos that I thought would work fine. Long story short, first takeoff and landing went better than I expected and second flight was a little more interesting as I had to realize it's NOT as "instant ON throttle" as my fully aerobatic electrics and nitros. With that said, I REALLY enjoyed this plane and will probably take it to the field almost everytime I go.....plus I got a lot of cool compliments on it. Roll rate of the plane was GREAT set to the specs in the manual, however there were times where I could have used more Elevator just to feel more comfortable about controlling the plane, but that's easy to correct. Inverted there wasn't enough elevator for my liking and the plane seemed to drop quicker inverted than I expected, besides that the flight was fine. I haven't flown the plane on "High Rates" yet. PROs - fairly easy to assemble (you even get the epoxy), good instruction manual, and easy fitting optional landing gear. Also I had no problems fitting my 2200Mha 3S LiPo in the nose of the plane and it balanced perfect. CONs - as others have stated a little slopping fitting tail section and horizontal stab', and for my taste a little under-powered. Wondering if a 12 blade fan would improve it any? With that said, it a really GREAT **** for the buck, for about $100 you get everything except the batteries and receivers.”

“Started with the 3 cell setup, cg worked out to be at the servo wires for me. She was quick enough but just slightly under-powered. Moved to the 12 blade 4 cell setup, after you get used to this jet I STRONGLY recommend it as now she is a hot rod with tons of thrust and great sound. I'm running an 1800 4 cell , had to cut the wood battery tray to move the batt forward. Robust little plane looks great in the air and handles the 4 cell weight with no problems, I don't like a hand launch for edf so made a rolling cart to launch, shes way cool. Great **** for the buck.”

“Very much a beginner jet slow!!! 1 problem can’t handle a lot of wind2 need to buy only 1800 3 cell use a high c rating 3 min. Flight time3 need to b very low grass height better with a runway4 need to buy optional landing gear***** it is a very easy assembly***** holds up pretty well if u don’t land perfect ***** does fly nice first thing in morning no wind”
