“Make sure cg is a bit forward. Needed to cut away the wood to get the battery all the way forward. Had very exciting, unstable maiden flight. Almost lost the aircraft, extreme pitch instability. Once cg was right, a great flyer. Envy of the field! When hand launching, throw it up at bit, not level. Definitely recommend.”
“Using 2200 3S Admiral Pro 45C. You need to remove front piece of battery tray and use Velcro to just strap together and CG is perfect and holds battery in place. I used foam safe glue to route wiring neatly and quality 5 minute epoxy. Did not use included glue. Canopy did not fit or stay on so I epoxied a brass 2-56 insert between cheap magnets and used a 2-56 socket head cap screw and plastic washer to ensure canopy stays on. Even w suggested low rates very twitchy first flight. Using about 40% of throw on ailerons and 50% on elevator, low rates w 40% expo. Hard to launch due to fat fuselage and no real place to grab. I held forward of wing at 3/4 throttle w gentle, LEVEL toss and stabilized in ground effect and then upped throttle and it flies like on rails w the above settings. Slightly forward CG allows for nice kill the power and bleed off the speed smooth landings. 7 flights for today's maiden, with 5 to 7 minute flight times at half to 3/4 power. Hadn't flown in nine months so just took it easy. Bought F86 also still in box and changed ESC to T (deans) connector to avoid adapter issues with F86 speed control. Use a high quality receiver as this airplane is fast and gets small quickly so you don't want to cheap out and lose it due to range issues. I loctited all screws I had access to and also removed elevator servo and CA the holes and reinstalled. You can throw it together quickly but might lose it due to factory error. Take you time, double check the assembly and properly program your radio and you will have a this jet a long time. Very enjoyable build and a great day at the field. Motion RC has some nice products but please check things over well before taking to the skies.”
“I've flown this model for three or four years. Other than a little hanger rash it looks as good as the day I bought it. It hand launches like it's on rails and cruises around with no bad habits. It's usually windy here so this season I added a flight stabilizer which just made it better. Stabilizer definitely not needed but nice. This is the kind of model that if you did lose it you would want to replace it. A plus is also that it is very visible and easy to maintain orientation.”
“glad i bought this when it came back in stock because it flew off the shelves (pun intended) again. currently one of my favorites in my collection and a great intro to edf's. it's an awesome plane with no bad tendencies, although a bit twitchy if you don't have your controls dulled down. looks great, sounds great, flies great. i was hotdogging the other day, doing a bunch of aileron rolls for my friends and pulled back on the stick while it was still inverted and put it straight into the dirt (oops). the only thing that broke on it was the foam tab that holds the battery hatch into the fuselage, nothing a bit of plastic or something won't fix. the only other damage was some wrinkles right behind the nose cone and right behind the battery hatch, as well as one stab breaking loose, just gotta epoxy it back inBUY THIS PLANE. DO IT. DON'T WAIT. WHEN YOU SEE THAT IN STOCK YOU PRESS ORDER IMMEDIATELY”
“When I purchased this plane I talked to Matt at Motion. I was concerned by all the controversy over the CG location. Matt assured me the CG shown in the manual is correct. Sure enough, with the 1600 battery full forward the balance is perfectly at the suggested location and it flies beautifully. I plan to buy another when they are back in stock, to have one Just in Case. Two of the club members are also going to purchase them. With the suggested 1600 battery, I get a solid 4 minutes with just a little throttle management. At full throttle 3 min is about the max. Low wide open passes over the field are gorgeous. Loops and rolls and cuban 8's are all smooth on low rate. This plane lands almost hands off once the glide path is set.”
“Had little trouble getting the cg down. She looks ruff around the edge now but she flys great now. All my fellow pilots enjoy watching her fly. Very happy with this panther. Mrc you guys rock.”
