“2nd, yep.. Cougar 1 was purchased as an ARF, I purchased the recommended fan, motor and ESC. Beautiful fit and finish, construction was without issue. Maidan flight went without incident, no gyro in the plane. The subsequent 8-10 flights over the next two weeks were great. The jet flew like it was on rails, slowed down for nice easy landings, really a joy to fly. The incident- so, 2 minutes into a normal flight I lost all power to the aircraft, no flight control or thrust. I watched it go in nose first. The fuselage was really the only damaged part of the airframe. I considered just buying a new fuselage and transferring everything. I would have likely wound up with the same results. Many people looked over the crash, no one had a good explanation. So I just purchased a new Cougar, PNP. To date I have 5-6 flights on it. This Cougar came with the gyro setup, it’s really a great EDF to fly. I went with 4* just due to the electrical issue on the first jet.”

“This is a wonderful scale looking 80mm. It’s powerful and smooth. Using a Pulse 5000 50C, it takes off very quickly on grass. I achieved very scale takeoffs pretty easily. I found the jet to be easy to see despite the color. The best landings required a bit of power all the way down. Although it didn’t happen to me in many flights, I can see how a hippity hop can develop if you’re careless so get it slowed down. I flew it with and without stores and couldn’t see a difference other than it slowed down better for landings. I never needed reverse so haven’t tried that. My battery placement was exactly where Wesley had his and that was perfect. I needed very little elevator trim and that was it. Flight time on the 5000 was 3:20. I also flew a Pulse 5500 70C at the same location on the tray and it still balanced surprisingly. Now the best - the sound. It’s hard to describe but the howl is unlike anything I’ve heard from an EDF jet. Easily five stars for me.”

“Really nice flyer. Mine has really strong pitch down with full flaps which was easy to mix out. Lands real nice, but something I haven't seen others mention is the gear is a bit narrow and it can get tippy during rollout. Not a big deal, just keep it straight until it slows down.
