FlightLine Focke-Wulf Ta 152H 1300mm (51") Wingspan - PNP Reviews

4.5 Rating 98 Reviews
This is a follow up review that I previously did on the Ta-152. I continue to find the plane flies very stable and smooth as others have mentioned, and yes, it will pull to the left on takeoff as others have mentioned too, but if you use good throttle control and right rudder she'll take off straight and true and lift off very quickly (don't bother with using flaps for takeoff). The issue I had right from my first flight (as mentioned in my previous review) was with the landing gear. When coming in for a landing on the maiden flight one of the landing gear did not drop. After several passes and cycling of the gear, it finally dropped. While working on the plane at home I found that sometimes both landing gear operated correctly, sometimes not, sometimes one, sometimes the other, etc. Obviously this plane was not going in the air until the situation was corrected! Figured I had two bad retracts and contacted MotionRC and they sent me two new retracts (thanks guys!). Once I got them I checked the retracts out on a servo checker before installing on the plane and both worked as they should. Okay, problem solved. Put them in the plane and same issue as before, sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't, but more often not at all. WTF!!! What I discovered was that there is a slight flaw in the retract mounting design that may or may not show up on your particular plane. When the retracts are mounted in the wing and you retract the gear, the wheel well for the retract is just a bit too shallow for the wheel to retract all the way in and the retract mechanism isn't able to fully complete the closing cycle. When it can't do that, it won't open. Thus, when you take off and retract the gear, it may not drop when it's time for landing. I found that by just loosening the retract mounting screws to the wing, the retracts worked just fine and you could then see that the retracts were then able to fully complete the closing cycle. Well I couldn't leave the screws lose because that left the retracts sitting loose and moving around, so I just put in a couple small washers in between the wheel well and the retracts (about 1/16 of an inch), tightened the screws down, and that took care of the situation. So if you're having a problem with the retracts operating correctly at times on this plane, just loosen the mounting screws for the retracts to the wing and see if that's the problem. Hopefully that's where the problem lies and is easily fixed by a couple of small washers.

I did a review back in January when I bought and built this plane. Finally maidened it yesterday. CG was perfect with 4s 2650 in middle of battery tray, only needed a few clicks of aileron trim. Climbed out perfectly smooth with no flaps and flew on rails. It just feels sold and stable in the air. When you line up and do a full speed pass it just roars by. The ONLY bad tendency I saw was when making final turn for landing with full flaps make sure to maintain enough altitude and speed or it could start to tip stall. Once you are lined up for landing with full flaps it just floats in. Zero bad tendencies on the ground, although I did add a little rake to the gear so that might have helped with avoiding tipovers on the ground. This will definitely become a favorite.

I was shocked how small the TA-152 is when I received it. Because of the long wing, it is still 51 wingspan but much smaller in scale than the other warbirds in Motion's selections.I got it put together and the left retract is intermittent. Sometimes goes up and sometimes goes down. I don't dare use the retracts. Let me say I am a VERY experienced and proficient RC pilot but on the first flight, the TA took a HARD roll to the left and went in. Not much damage other than a broken prop. Everything is set up right and guess it's just a violent torque roll because of the 3 blade prop and 'P' factor. Next time she'll be a gentle half throttle takeoff I guess. In closing, the airplane is nicely detailed and well thought out. I love the 'transfer' style stickers.

This is a unique plane... The quality is amazing for the price. after 8 successful un eventful flights using the Admiral 4s 3000 the stability in the air is a lot like a scale glider and requires rudder coordination due to the long tail moment. Taking off is easy and wants to fly the tail very easy. landing is solid and smooth until you touch down then need to hold slight up elevator and dump the flaps or it will try to nose over.. .Proper cg is critical with this plane and have flown it aft cg and was trying to drop a wing but was able to trim it forward and power through it land no problem.. I had always wanted the model but never had the time to build one and glad I did not. Excellent product flight line and Motion .glad they chose to not go with the scale 70 deg angled in lg legs and I have flow other FW 190A models and they try to churp up on wing tip in crosswinds .this plane stays put. intermediate warbird pilots will have no problem flying it ..

As I stated in my first review, this bird has a tendency to yaw dramatically to the left and dip the left wing unless you make substantial directional control correction and gingerly apply takeoff power. To help counteract this tendancy, I recently installed the Hobby Eagle A3-L gyro. What a difference! The yaw and torque roll to the left on takeoff are almost non-existent now. I still see a bit with a 4S battery, but it's non-existent with a 3S pack. This bird is rock solid in the air and is a thing of beauty. Lots of complements at the flying field. The gain sweet spot in normal mode seems to be about 30-40 percent. Pucker factor is down to zero percent! My only wish is that I would have installed the gyro sooner. It could have prevented a broken wingtip and a dinged up vertical stabilizer. Many thanks to MRC for recommending the Hobby Eagle A3-L! Bye the way, I primarily use a 3S 2200mah 40C pack which gives me 5-6 minute flights and more than enough performance. No need for 4S packs unless you simply want speed.

Can't say enough great things about the way this fly's and looks. Quality at this price is amazing! I have about 12 flights now with this bird and can't wait for the next one. Flying with a 3300 4cell and this aircraft screams through the sky with grace. The build was painless and with the help of MotionRC videos I knew exactly what to expect during the build. I'm the only one with this Ta-152H where I fly and it always grabs the attention of whoever is there. The only thing about this I had to work on is the takeoff. It does like a lot elevator to keep from nosing over. I would not hesitate to buy another one if for some reason I destroy this one. Thanks Motion!!!

This is my first Flighline plane after building and flying a bunch of Dynam planes. I have to say that by comparison the construction and components are remarkable for not that much more money. Only build issue was one of the plastic parts to hold the horizontal stabilizer was misaligned, so I popped it out and reglued it. The MotionRC build video was very helpful as always. I put a 4 cell 2650 in the middle of the battery tray and CG seems perfect. Holding off maiden until Spring weather but I am looking forward to showing this off at some upcoming flying events.
