FlightLine Focke-Wulf Ta 152H 1300mm (51") Wingspan - PNP Reviews

4.5 Rating 98 Reviews
This plane has been well thought out and fly's terrific. It's always nice to see some of the rare and often forgotten war birds modeled and offered to us as customers.Flight line has yet again produced another great flying airplane and rarely if ever modeled airplane of the Luftwaffe. This plane fly's great on it's stock power setup and on either 3S or 4S lipo power and is not lacking in power or performance on either choice of battery use.

OK here is what I have seen and experienced so far. First off, service with motion has been excellent. I ordered the plane and 3 days later it was on my door step. Very good motion, thumbs up. The plane came in an outside box and the inner container holding the plane. All was received without damage. All the major parts were wrapped in plastic and protected in foam. I unwrapped all the pieces and checked them for damage and warpage. None was to be found. One of the things I checked out next was the owners manual and the decal sheet. The manual came in three languages, (English, German, and Chinese) and the decal sheet allows the owner to use their imagination alot. One word to note here about the manual; one needs to understand Chineslish to interpilate what is wanted. However, if you have built other planes from China then you won't have any problems. Next I dry fit the major pieces and bound the receiver. I do that first to make the final assembly go alot easier. I started building. It is pretty straight fwd and within an hour and a half the plane was done Now here is where it get toublesome. Some of the wires are short coming from the wing. Hooking them up to the blue connector box is very aggrivating. I understand why the manufactures have been going to this setup but I have been flying years with out them. However, I hooked it up and powered up the system. Guess what, the only thing that worked was my ailerons. So, I checked and rechecked the wires and spent an additional half hour trying to get this setup working. No luck; I went back to the old ways and used wire extenions to make things work. They did. I moved on to trimming the flight controls and noticed something was not as it should be. The hinges were not nylon but foam. WHAT!!!! I checked the spec's on the web site and it clearly stated they were nylon. I called motion and they said they were aware of it. They also said the Chinese company did not do what the contract said it was suposed to do. Install nylon hinges. This was very disappointing to me. I was hoping for the nylon. My Freewing EDF's have them and they are great. Even my little FreeWing F9F Cougar, ($89) have them. Next, using an Admiral 2500 50C 4S battery it was time to balance the plane. Using the specs from the OEM, (72mm) I set up my GreatPlanes balancer. Placed the plane on the stand as it should be and it immediatly it took a nose dive off the stand. WOW!!!!!! I was surprised. Moved the batt completly aft in the tray and the same thing happened again. Long story short. I went all the way up to a 4200mah and it was still nose heavy. Alot!! I took the battery tray out and looked below to see if weight had been added. What I found was the ESC was folded back on the motor leads towards the front of the plane. I laid it out straight and extended the leads then replaced the battery board. This placed the ESC further aft and helped with the balance a bit. I still had concerns with this though. I contacted motion and they said all was good with the OEM spec's and to fly the plane with the battery to the back of the tray. So I did and it does fly well at that location using A 2500 4S battery. Now for the flying. First, this plane is not for beginners or persons breaking in to the war bird market. She, (my sky balerina or Dragon Fly) is comfortable to fly but you must stay on top of it to fly scale. I flew most of the time at 1/2 throttle and did everything I wanted to do. Loops, rolls, spins, wing overs. Full throttle climbouts= AWESOME Very impressive!!!!!! High speed runs. 80/90++++MPH fly by's. Stalls, well, it breaks very hard and fast. No flaps, it will snap inverted and head for the dirt. Practice at least at an altitude three mistakes high. Keep your speed up on landing or you WILL be unpleasantly surprised. Finally, this plane will fly off grass, but, it better be short and fairly smooth. Frog hair type. I had to fly off grass for my maiden and it went ok. However, my second take off it lifted to soon and i needed to run longer. As it lifted off she broke a hard left, (P-Factor and torque) and I caught it fast with a hard right aileron. I saved the day on that one. So be aware of that also. Other than all that I stated, she is a very beautiful plane and I'm happy with her. I would have given all 5 stars but the hinges/ESC issue chilled me out. Have fun with the TA-152 and add your own touch to it. It will be a beautiful addition to your hangar.
