“After getting experience with the E-Flite 1.2 m T-28, I decided to make the F8F Bearcat my first taildragger warbird-this was after watching the demo video from Motion RC. I was afraid to fly it because I have seen all those videos about warbirds tip stalling on both takeoff and landing, but I was very pleased when the takeoff was very similar to that of the T-28: easy and gentle with no violent torque rolls. No flaps were needed for the takeoff run but as the video shows, it's a good practice to feed the throttle gradually during takeoff and just be very gentle-don't floor the throttle to the max all of a sudden and yank the elevator to try to take off like a rocket. It's an RC warbird and as such, scalelike takeoffs and landings work best.On the air, the Bearcat is easy to fly and predictable. Scale flying is a breeze and so are basic aerobatics. Regarding landings, they can be performed almost as slowly as the T-28. I like to use half flaps to gradually bleed off speed while gently reducing speed to half throttle, and then I use around a quarter throttle with the flaps fully deployed and when on final approach. It really slows down to a gentle landing. The scale detail is also impressive, complete with the guns and the decals. In my case, I had no selection of decals-the scheme shown in the photo (the 106A) is what was already applied. I really love this plane.Regarding the CG, it balances perfectly with the Admiral 4S 3600 standard (not pro) battery. I also used a Spektrum 4S 4000 mAh 30C one that a club member gave me in exchange for other batteries I had, and it also balances perfectly with that one-no added weight in the nose is needed.Control throws used are the same that are mentioned in the demo video. I have flown the plane exclusively on low rates and have found that it is all it's needed to perform both scalelike and sport maneuvers. I also added 30 percent expo on ailerons and elevator, and 10 percent on rudder.Very little rudder is needed to keep the plane straight on the takeoff run, and provided the takeoff speed is sufficient, it does not have that tendency to want to do those violent torque rolls.Assembly is straightforward. I use a Spektrum A620 receiver with no AS3X or SAFE. In my opinion, this plane does not need gyros. The plane flies gently-it's not a beginner plane but will respond gracefully when given gentle, scalelike imputs. One of my concerns is the landing gear. It does not seem very strong and I can tell that it does not take hard landings, but if you can land taildraggers well, this should not be an issue. This plane is very good value for the money.”

“The reason for only #3 rating....second flight right main gear came out and looking at the mount there was less than 50% glue adhesion on the retract.Tried to adjust main wheels and the set screws on both collars were roached out 1.5mm Allen would not loosen. In spite of the above, I like this model a lot, flies great. Just had to get some bugs fixed. Guess that goes with this hobby to some degree.Yes - I'd buy it again.”

“Maiden was great, flew on rails. Looks beautiful in the air and on the ground. Got multiple compliments on the anodized green landing gear tray. Tips: Needed to add not an insignificant amount of weight on the nose to dial in the cg. One of the landing gears came in defective. After sending in photos, motionrc replaced it. I'm going to try to powertrain upgrade.”

“Very quick to put together. To attain the CofG l had to put nose weight even though l flew it on a 5000 4's battery. So far l have had 5 flights with no issues. It flies well and gives me an easy 7 minute flight only using around 50% with the 5000 battery.”

“This is a really nicely detailed version of the Bearcat.I received a complete kit and the build was very simple. Only one glitch, the magnet on the right inner gear door had come lose. Once located and glued back in place, we were ready to fly! Very nice flying model. With a 4S 4000 mAh it had great performance. Easy to land on mains. With a little airbrush work you have a winner.”
