“I am disappointed how Motion RC handled my ticket about defective retracts on P-38L. Here is my story. For the last 2 years my retracts on P38-L and Tigercat will occasionally malfunction, and one retract will not go down, and I have to land on 2 instead of 3 wheels. If I notice in time that I have only 2 wheels, instead of 3, I go around, cycle the gear, and sometimes it will work. No big deal, but the annoying part is that as soon as I land on 2 wheel, and I take it to the bench in the club, all 3 will work fine. I bought new P-38L and checked that everything is working within 30 days. On first day of flying that new P-38L (not my first P-38L) when going home and packing I noticed gear door on one main would not fully close. Before next Saturday, on Friday night I was checking why the doors are not closing. Turns out the gear would not fully retract. I decided to take the retract apart and investigate (already past 30 days). Turns out the rectangular nut that slides on the shaft that rotates (inside of retract) has huge free-play which is shown at the end of this video (https://youtu.be/MZi_opK7884) . I fixed it by installing different rectangular nut. I decided to report this to Motion RC, but it is late, so I will do it tomorrow (on Saturday) after flying. Inside I am saying to myself, that would explain why the retracts sometimes get jammed and I have to land on 2 instead of 3 wheels. Eureka !!! next time I will know what needs to be fixed. Next day on Saturday I am landing and as I am about to touch down, I notice front wheel is not down. In split of a seconds I decided to abort the landing and go around. I add power and elevator up, but as I do one propeller strikes the runway and brakes, putting the airplane into spin around its own Z axis. The airplane hits the ground with one wing and then slams the ground with main gear. All that is really damaged is one propeller and one wing. Fixable. I report the issue to Motion RC saying that the front gear did not go down because it probably got jammed as result of having the free-play on rectangular nut just like the other main gear did. I have the video of the plain from before the crush. I asked Motion to send me new wing, and retracts, since I have the evidence in my hand that the retracts are defective, and this kind of defect cannot be reported within 30 days, as it sometimes works as sometimes does not work. Derek from Motion RC asked me to provide pictures, video, AMA number, etc. I provided everything. His reply: we can’t help you because you did not sent the video before the crush, and that the damage of the airplane is not consistent with damage caused by defective front gear. Obviously I am disappointed.”

“Beautiful and complete kit. Fit and finish was excellent, with no real problems during assembly. Flies like a dream. Takeoffs, landings, and maneuvers look very scale. Not for a beginner, due to it's complexity and high-ish wing-loading, but still a docile and predictable flyer. Even with the price increase, it is well worth the money!”

“Beautiful model.I would give it 5-5 stars except the Integrated Circut Module recieved with the model did not work properly. But on the plus side, Tim at Motion RC's Customer service was very helpful, walking me through some diagnostic tests to determine the problem, and quickly replaced the ICM (at no cost). The extra couple days downtime gave me time to paint invasion stripes on her, adding some realism.Flys beautifully. Lands real nice, without any need for the flap system.I had read about issues with the elevator control horn coming loose, but did not experience that at all. Very solidly built model.”

“I took my time putting it together and while there are quite a few steps, it is very manageable especially with the youtube video on the subject from MotionRC. The model is beautiful. The only issue I came across was the right wing root at the back was slightly below where it should meet the fuselage. It was relatively minor and was fixed with a little trim in flight. I have about 10 flights now. They were all without issue and I look forward to many more.”

“Update with my P-38L, recently crashed (pilot error). Spent about 3 days on and off glueing back all the pieces, replaced mid wing spar and reinforced all three fuselages within. All original foam parts, nothing was replaced. Carefully glued back together piece by piece, finished up with wood filler then sanded. Repainted, adding another set of decals.Have around 20 flights since the crash, flies great plenty of power using 4 cell 5000mAh 14.8 50C battery. Upgraded landing gear, modified control horns with additional reinforcements. The P-38L is an amazing plane, flies great. Probably my favorite to fly, No problem handling rolls or loops. Have attached three pictures, one right after the crash, during the rebuilt and a third at the airfield with new paint and new set of decals.”

“I love the model. It’s a little bit more involved to build this model, but well worth it. Plan on gear upgrade, and I’ve added a bomb and tank drop to it. But one thing gave me trouble, the blue box works the gear, and Alis fine. But the LED controls are not working right, strobes on a solid port, solid on strobing ports. Or is not strong enough to run extra LEDs I put in vertical stabilizers. Have not maiden but can’t wait, using Admiral 600 Gyro Rec. And Admiral 4s 3000 and 4000 to fly with ✌ Check out videos on Utube channel, EQ RC”
