I used the custom builder to pick out everything on the sword. Before they shipped the sword to me, Swords told me the sword Smith had installed the wrong habaki on the blade and if I wanted it changed to the one I ordered it would be another week or so to replace. I said it was okay , just ship me the sword. I also paid extra $30.00 dollars for an extra sharp blade. When it arrived to me the sword looked great, but you could not slice a peice of paper with it. Clearly not even regular sharp. So I ask for a $30.00 dollar refund and they wanted a video showing that its not sharp. So more or less called me a liar. You don't need a video to understand that it would not slice a piece of paper held in one hand and slice or cut it with the other hand. So I will not do anymore business with this company. I rolled the dice and lost. Good luck if you use this company.

Hello! We’ve already reached out and issued a refund for your order. We understand this was a miscommunication, and we truly appreciate your patience. The reason we asked for a video is that we’ve had 2–3 similar cases recently, and we’d like to share the details with the smith to make sure situations like this don’t happen again. This way, we can improve our process and ensure a smoother experience for you and other customers in the future.

I really appreciate the attention to detail and the sword was worth the wait! The fit and finish of how it all comes together is simply masterful. The folded steel and hand ground edge was so sharp, that it passes the paper slice test. The balance of the blade made weilding it feel effortless and when I cut pieces of my elderberry bush in my backyard, the slices felt little resistance to the incredibly sharp blade. I really think this sword is a functional work of art, and I would not pass on this sword maker!

This is the first Katana I have purchased. The pictures I recieved prior to shipping do not do justice. The sword is beatiful. The wrap is tight and everything seems to fit correctly. The only complaint I do have is when I am trying to resheath the sword it gets hung up with about 2 inches left. I have to pull the sword out a bit and it takes a few tries to have it seat properly. I have not had the opportunity to attempt any cuts. I would leave 5 stars if it didnt get hug up in the saya.

I just recieved the sword back from an unboxing/review by YouTuber Outlaw Samurai 47. Please view it if you wish. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality and execution. The only critique I can level is that I specified and paid for the "Mirror Polish" ($30.00 U.S.) option and I do not feel that was accomplished to the industry standard. Below is a Production Ryujin Year of the Dragon T10 and the difference in polish is even more substantial than the photos show. I do not believe it is even debatable that the Hanbon does not in fact possess a mirror polish. I know Hanbon is more that capable of doing a great polish so there must have been a communication error or someone simplly forgot to finish it. As stated, I am pleased at the execution of the processes that were completed. The optional Saya is nicely done in red/burgundy laquer with Buffalo horn fittings. Retension is lacking, however I chalk that up to environmental differences. The 26.8" 1095 folded D.H. steel Shinogi-Zukuri blade is very nicely made with a nice Midare (Real) hamon and real Yokote. The Ha is a optinal "Sharp with Niku" although sharpness is average(as seen in Outlaw Samurai 47's review video). The optional (Tsuka-Maki) : Katate-Maki with Hishigami wrap in light-brown synthetic ito, black, real samegawa panels, waisted, 11" tsuka is the highlight of the sword IMHO as it is beautifully done. The Fuchi & Kashira are plain gloss black alloy and show casting lines (a non-recomend). The copper seppa/habaki are nicely done and look classy as does the black,Iron, Mushashi style tsuba. The multi-color synthetic Sageo is a step above standard. Would I recomend HanBon Forge for a Custom build and are they a good value? Yes, I have no trepidations recomending both Swordis and HBF. I feel they are a "good to above average" value in the market. You can tell by their work that HBF have some talented Smiths and artisans. Thank you, Pimp T HBF Custom Order# 108xxx

Full sized blade, 8” handle, double fuller, straight edge, etc. I put in an odd custom config and they followed through with flying colors. This is one well built sword
