The sword is beautiful, well made, well balanced. Created exactly to our customizations. Arrived on time. It was featured in our wedding! The customer service was great, too. As soon as the sword was finished being made, we received an email with some beautiful pictures of it, as well as the tracking number for it, and its stand.

How are the Handle and Fittings?
All in all, it is what I ordered. We'll start with the Good, but expected: Blade is well made, ito is nice and tight. Fittings are nice, and fit and finish are very good. Bad, but expected: Fittings are parts bin fittings, Polish is lacking, some casting marks on the Fittings. Good, but unexpected: The samegawa is of very high quality, with very large nodules, and even an emperor node. Ito is very good, unexpectedly good. Bad, but unexpected: Tip was rounded off due to me requesting unsharpened. I expected it to still have a point, just be a dull blade. It is also longer than I requested. I requested a 33-34 inch blade, it is 35 inches. This causes it to be VERY heavy in the hand. I will not be able to use it for iaido due to it being slightly too long. All in all it is worth more than the money spent, I will just have to have the blade cut down slightly to make it suitable for me.

It's a well-made sword! Was a little tight at first but it's loosened up enough that drawing and resheathing is easy. Weight balance is very forward but I expected it to be so given the specifications I made. Edge is a little less sharp than I hoped, but given the blade niku that isn't wildly out of spec either. It still cuts and I look forward to seeing what it will do on a standing target rather than a piece of paper. It looks amazing too; the tsuka especially is rock solid with *no* rattle in the fittings or unwanted movement in the ito. The burgundy sageo looks beautiful on it. Overall, I'm glad with it and I feel I got my money's worth! Wonderful work!

My experience was fantastic! I love the website setup, it was extremely easy to navigate and customize my katana. I did have an issue with my wakizashi. The scabbard that I chose was not compatible with my blade length. Customer service contacted me and everything was resolved quickly and seamlessly. I'm completely satisfied with all aspects of this entire interaction.

I had a custom katana made. The sword is beautiful and the shipping expectation was realistic. However I did ask and pay for an engraving which was not there. I think it is because I didn’t use Chinese characters, which I accept is my fault but I think I was still charged for it even though I did not receive it. The sword is also pretty dull, I wish it was sharpened better than it was, maybe that is something they improve on as you purchase higher quality levels. Overall I’m very happy with the sword, there are just a few things left to be desired. I will order again from them in the future!

Hey Denham, We usually have two people inspect the sword to ensure it matches the customer’s order. Unfortunately, the second check is done after the sword is assembled, making it impossible to see whether the engravings were added or not. Could you please send us an email? We will, of course, refund you the difference, along with a bonus from our end as an apology for our mistake! Thank you! Vali

My review is a bit overdue so sorry for that. I was sceptical at first ordering here. But glad I did! The customer service is something I've never experienced somewhere else and probably never will. I asked a ton of questions and received a ton of answers to all of those. Never once prompting me to place an order, These people let you take your time and help you get what you seek. As for the Katana, It's my first one so I went with the cheapest option out there being Hanbon Forge. Went for the custom Katana builder. This site is amazing user friendly to make your custom Katana. The Hanbon Forge site has more options but that's something that will probably be added here in the future as well but can also be achieved by just asking I'm sure. The katana that I received was perfect, Exactly how I customized it to my taste. Packaged excellently and looks beautiful. Long story short. If you're looking for a custom Katana and need a place that is user friendly, Trustworthy and has excellent customer service? Shop at Swordis!
