“Ordered a high end Kobuse steel katana. Fittings were not right. Sword came dull even after expressing three times this sword was intended for Tameshigiri. Ordered a second custom saya with the sword. Neither saya fit. Took hours of gentle sanding before EITHER saya would fit on the habaki. Spoke about all this during construction & after with Swordis customer service who ignored problems & stopped responding to emails. Unless you have a famous youtube channel, i strongly caution you to avoid Swordis & Hanbon forge.”

Hi Paul, We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your custom katana, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We would, however, like to clarify a few points regarding our communication and the concerns you raised. Throughout the entire process, we responded to your messages very promptly, generally within a few hours, and we exchanged more than 20 emails in total while working through the details of your order and your concerns. In your final message, you raised concerns regarding the sharpness of the blade, the fittings, and the fit of the saya. We replied and asked for additional photos and a short video so that we could properly document the issues and review them with the manufacturer. Unfortunately, we did not receive a response to that request. Regarding the saya, slight changes in fit can sometimes occur during transportation due to changes in temperature, humidity, and climate. We provided instructions explaining how a very small amount of material could be carefully sanded from the inside of the saya, which is typically a quick adjustment taking less than a minute. Regarding the blade sharpness, your request for the blade to be made as sharp as possible for tameshigiri was communicated to the manufacturer. When you later expressed concerns about the sharpness, we asked you to send us a short video so we could share it directly with the supplier and investigate further. Again, we unfortunately never received the requested video or a further reply from you. For this reason, we feel that the statement that we were not responding to your messages does not accurately reflect the communication that took place. We made every effort to respond promptly, follow up, and gather the information needed to work toward a resolution. We completely understand that the final product did not meet your expectations, and we are sorry for the frustration this caused. Our intention throughout was to understand the concerns fully and work with the manufacturer to find an appropriate solution. If you would ever like us to review the matter again, we remain available and would be happy to continue the conversation.
