I had ordered a custom Katana, my very first sword to own, something i dreamt of owning since being a kid and Swordis and Hanbon Forge allowed to me fulfill my dream and to fulfill it in a customized and affordable way. When i finally held the blade in my hands, i was at a loss for words, being overjoyed and marvelling at the gorgeous craftsmanship. In my eyes, going with Hanbon Forge is perfect for being a starter, blades to decorate or those to cut with, your choose and they make you a piece of Art.

I was very impressed with the quality of the sword. The handle wrap is very tight, the blade is sharp but not razor sharp which is a good thing i believe. Great price and deal for a custom sword. I doubt you will find such quality for as low a price as this. Good customer service they replied to me promtly. I definetly recommend. The blade isn't 100% perfect it does has a little nicks covering the very edge about 1 inch of the 28 in blade. Hardly noticable and i can just polish it out when I get the chance. Fittings are exactly what I ordered and look beautifull. The sheath is beautiful however it's VERY tight too tight so when I store it I don't put it all the way in or it will get stuck.

I have kinda just one thing I want to bring up: The yokote feature is described as, and I quote, "creating a visual and _physical_ separation.", and I had to pay extra for it, and for it to even then turn out to be the cheap grind trick illusion that does not create the physical separation as a real yokote line does is very disappointing. Oh and the handle pins seem excessively long? They not in the way at all when holding it but especially on the left side could've been about 2 millimeter shorter easily so to be less noticeable

I got this sword for cutting and as one that can be lended to other people. As such, I wanted one that is reasonably cheap so that if something happens I don't be devastated and secondly, one that is strong enough so that the first condition is less likely to happen. Those conditions are met with what I got, and I don't see mistakes or faults in the sword. However, coming from a martial art background where I practice with these things, the quality is not on par with, say, similarly priced iaito. I would be hard pressed to do iaido with this. Perhaps that's not to be even expected and it doesn't really bother me. But it might bother someone else with different expectations. Swordis as a tool worked excellently! I'm also happy with the sword, for the purpose I got it for.

The sword is beautiful, well made, well balanced. Created exactly to our customizations. Arrived on time. It was featured in our wedding! The customer service was great, too. As soon as the sword was finished being made, we received an email with some beautiful pictures of it, as well as the tracking number for it, and its stand.

All in all, it is what I ordered. We'll start with the Good, but expected: Blade is well made, ito is nice and tight. Fittings are nice, and fit and finish are very good. Bad, but expected: Fittings are parts bin fittings, Polish is lacking, some casting marks on the Fittings. Good, but unexpected: The samegawa is of very high quality, with very large nodules, and even an emperor node. Ito is very good, unexpectedly good. Bad, but unexpected: Tip was rounded off due to me requesting unsharpened. I expected it to still have a point, just be a dull blade. It is also longer than I requested. I requested a 33-34 inch blade, it is 35 inches. This causes it to be VERY heavy in the hand. I will not be able to use it for iaido due to it being slightly too long. All in all it is worth more than the money spent, I will just have to have the blade cut down slightly to make it suitable for me.

It's a well-made sword! Was a little tight at first but it's loosened up enough that drawing and resheathing is easy. Weight balance is very forward but I expected it to be so given the specifications I made. Edge is a little less sharp than I hoped, but given the blade niku that isn't wildly out of spec either. It still cuts and I look forward to seeing what it will do on a standing target rather than a piece of paper. It looks amazing too; the tsuka especially is rock solid with *no* rattle in the fittings or unwanted movement in the ito. The burgundy sageo looks beautiful on it. Overall, I'm glad with it and I feel I got my money's worth! Wonderful work!
