It’s a well designed katana, made just the way I wanted it. Solid and well put together and well packaged. Also made and delivered in the time period advertised online. Thanks for a great product and service.

I’m not one to normally write a review but because of how incredible their whole process has been, I feel it is necessary. The craftsmanship of Hanbon Forge is nothing short of excellent. My katana was made exactly how I selected all the way down to the small details. The fact you have so many options of customization and still get this level of quality is mind blowing. Their customer service is top notch as well. I received updates along the way and pictures of everything once it was completed incase there was something I wasn’t happy with or wanted changed. It shipped incredibly fast and I was sent tracking as soon as it was ready. I’ve told all my friends and family about it and have already recommended Hanbon to a coworker of mine. If anyone is in the market for a custom katana and wants the highest quality without emptying the wallet Hanbon Forge is the way to go. You will not be disappointed.

Being able to customize essentially all aspects just makes it really fun for a pretty good price.

The saya is extremely tight when katana is sheathed. Takes allot of effort to unsheath it & it’s causing some damage to the habaki. Menuki color was not as expected given the picture provided when selecting. Fuchi & kashira came in already partially discolored. Still a fine piece & I will be getting another. The Swordis website offers the tsuba, habaki & fuchi with kashira as individual selection options. Other websites have the four together in a pack thus limiting the full custom experience. Thank you for your work.

My son wanted to customize a katana. I was very skeptical and wary of sites that would steal his savings. I was still nervous when we placed our order but the katana we received was well made and exactly how my son wanted it. We are so pleased that my husband would like to customize his own katana too.

The habaki gap in my wakizashi is large enough to easily fit a credit card on each side. Don't pick the hira zukuri shape because the off-the-shelf habaki they use is for the thicker shinogi zukuri cross shape so there is a huge gap for hira zukuri. Everything else is good. The handle smells kind of bad (oil/chemicals).
