How's the Blade?
How are the Handle and Fittings?
The sword was crafted a bit faster than expected and shipped way faster than expected, even with America being ridiculous with shipments right now. The sword is extremely beautiful and exactly what I wanted. The blade comes with oil and protective wraps even inside of the saya. One of the most secure and cushioned sword shipments I've ever had with no damage to the box. I am excited and already planning my next sword.

How are the Handle and Fittings?
i made a custom katana on swordis using the hanbon forge after doing a bunch of digging into them and finding mainly nothing but good about them and their swords. so since i always wanted a katana even as a kid, i decided to give them a chance. after about 2 weeks they sent me an email with pictures of the sword, i was ecstatic with joy, it looked awesome. i replied with how i thought of it and they shipped it off to me, got it about a week later. i have NO experence with with swords or katana's. but i have played with crappy stainless steel one's in the past that you really shouldn't be handling, this is definitly not one of those... this one is sharp and battle ready as per my design of the metals and such. they did a great job on it and i love it. even with practicing with it almost everyday, it's still feels awesome every time i handle it.

This handmade katana is perfect. It’s exactly as I wanted it and all the fittings and ito are very tight. I absolutely love it. The craftsmanship and attention to detail makes it worth the wait. These swords are far better quality than the other “handmade” katanas on the internet. I highly recommend.

How are the Handle and Fittings?
The sword is just okay for such a cheap price, but it is not great. First the cons: 1. The habaki doesn't fit in the koiguchi of the saya. The sword will not fully seat in the saya. The sword gets stuck, and is difficult to draw from the saya, as a result. Quality control should have noticed that problem easily. 2. The sword is dull, and I ordered a sharpened sword. That is a really simple quality control problem also. 3. The blade has a curve. It's very obvious. Probably a bad quench or heat treat caused the warp. Now the pros: 1. The overall construction appears solid, and there are no loose parts. Other than the cons stated, the rest of the order is correct. The shipping was insanely fast, and the product arrived undamaged. I would not recommend someone else to buy a sword, when the company cannot even get the basic order correct. I would not order again, knowing that the company has no quality control. I am disappointed in my order, but I don't want to risk sending it back and making it worse. I will have to spend my own time to try to fix the habaki not fitting into the saya. I will have to spend my own time to sharpen the blade. I cannot fix the warped blade. This is not ideal. If this had been a gift for someone, I would have been embarrased to give such a gift. This order was just a test to see if the company was any good with a basic order, and if I could buy more swords. I can tell the company does not inspect their product for accuracy, and I will not be buying from the company in the future.

I was attacked by a group of ninjas last night. Thanks to the superior craftsmanship of my Hanbon Forge sword I am alive to write this review. Five stars.

Sword is very nice. Exactly customized as I ordered. Very nicely packaged and wrapped. The blade is sharp and it makes a great noise cutting the air.

How are the Handle and Fittings?
I wanted a black blade so I went with the 1060 black. The blade is beautiful. The sharpness is adequate. Not the sharpest blade you can get, but far from dull, cuts everything fine. The fittings are very tight. I upgraded the wrap and the wrap is fantastic, black leather and as tight as it can get. The only issue I have is the saya is much too tight. If I drive it in, I need to use my rubber mallet to get it to come back out. This issue will no doubt resolve itself with use, or I could always take out a file, but I will give it time and allow it to correct itself.
