“My recent stay at Osa Trail was absolutely great! I traveled with my family and we're all novice campers but Alex was very helpful in guiding us. The property offers an beautiful view. I highly recommend Osa Trail.”
“We had a wonderful first experience with Tentrr on Alex's property. The site is gorgeous with a beautiful view: afternoon sunlight illuminates the valley while the morning sunrise directly in front of you is a wonderful wakeup call. It was clear Alex felt this place was very special and we agree! Our dog had an awesome time playing with his two dogs who came and went independently. We had a cooler overcast day the first day but were able to check out the Tuthilltown Distillery, Whitecliff Winery, and a great restaurant called the Gardiner Liquid Mercantile, as well as the nearby Farmer's Market. We also spent a day at the Winnewaska State Park (if you prefer trails in the woods rather than gravel roads, do a little advance research on routes in the park...all still beautiful though!). We didn't have time to use Alex's canoe which he provides which was a bummer, but we recommend trying that out too! Alex was informative, helpful and kind, and while we didn't need much extra from him he was kind enough to offer to help in any way.”
“Great location with a nice view! Alex is an excellent host. Would love to come back with a small group as there is plenty of space, especially around the stone fire pit. His two friendly dogs are also a plus!”
“My fiancé and I had a great time! We had our mini Aussie with us and she got to play with Alex's 2 friendly dogs. It was an easy drive from New York City and on our way home we stopped at the Walk way over the Hudson. The tent was perched on top of the property with beautiful views. You could not see the family's home or any neighbors so it was very private. Alex and his family were very nice and welcomed us right away. He offered to pick us up anything from town that we may have forgotten. Overall it was a great getaway.”
“My husband and I booked a weekend at Osa Trail to get out of the city to celebrate our 1-year anniversary. The campsite was beautiful and Alex the host was great. I'm sure if you are not dog people that he wouldn't have let them visit but because we told him how much we love dogs we had the joy of getting a visit from Alex's incredibly fun, sweet retrievers. They were the happiest dogs I may have ever seen frolicking in nature and coming over to say hello. We were so happy that we did the fresh eggs add-on option. We cooked them on a skillet over the campfire and they were some of the best tasting eggs I've ever had. The campsite was a short drive from Minnewaska State Park which I would put on the must-visit list if you stay here. We enjoyed a glorious 7-mile hike but the trails were such that you can really choose your own adventure to go for longer or shorter trails. The one thing we didn't get right this time is that we need to bring proper sleeping bags on our next trip. The blankets I brought did not cut it when the air got damp and cool. Thank you to Tentrr and to Alex for a very special and memorable stay.”
“Important: This review is not about Alex and the camping site but more about Tentrr in general!
Our family really likes campings and every season before the end of September we use each opportunity to spend time in the nature including wild camping.
This weekend we decided to try Tentrr. The pictures on the site were really good.
The location was very good and the landowners were very nice.
I was extremely discouraged by the quality of the tent’s design. The stove made from thin material and it doesn't hold warmth like it should and cools down very quickly.
The tent was based on the wooden parapet and there are gaps between the floorboards allowing hot air to escape. One has to heat up the stove every hour and a half in order to keep the tent warm. As a result you can’t sleep normally.
The edges of the tent don’t attach to the parapet. The cold wind penetrates through the dangling ends freely and takes away warmth like the gaps in the floor.
While it’s possible to rent Tentrr tents late into the fall and beyond it would be extremely uncomfortable to stay there and keep warm.
We payed $138 (including taxes) per night this is hotel’s price for the room with all comforts or a rent of a cabin near river. What did we get for our money if we brought our personal sleeping bags, our tableware, pan and kettle?
Obviously if one has all personal equipment one has a tent too. To pay such an amount only for camping spot and view is absurd.
This camping is suitable for the summer season not later than middle of August when days are still warm and night temperature doesn’t drop below 50s otherwise it's not a pleasant experience.
I think price should be lower or the quality of service and equipment should be better.
Unfortunately I didn't get any joy and left with the feeling that I was cheated.”
“Alex, and his dogs Biscuit and Bear, couldn't have been nicer to me and my family. The view of the sunrise was unsurpassed, and take him up on the eggs - there great! We arrived totally unprepared, as we had some other issues we were dealing with at the time. Alex did not hesitate. He took care of everything, as they say, he went above the call of duty.”
