Stumbled on Whippoorwill Woods campsite as my wife, myself and two close friends wanted to getaway for a couple nights. We love camping but don’t usually enjoy many campgrounds because of how crowded and noisy they can be. Luckily, Tentrr has fixed this problem! We had the pleasure of staying on George and Sue’s 108 acre property in Lehighton and we couldn’t have been happier. Our hosts seem to genuinely enjoy their Tentrr endeavor as they we incredibly gracious and kind hosts. They showed us the lay of the land upon arrival and went over the ins and outs of the site. After a nice chat, they left us to our vices where we made some great meals over the open campfire, slept peacefully and very comfortably in the massive bunkbeds, went on a great hike and swim at Mauch Chunk Lake, and enjoyed some actual R&R without vehicles, noise, loud music, kids yelling or complaining. It was real camping in the real woods. We were surrounded by nothing but tall trees and all the nature that was intended to be enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts. The campsite was clean, spacious and was a great size for our small group. The location was awesome in that there were plenty of activities to explore in and around carbon county only 30 min or less from our site. Extra water was provided when needed but we were pretty self sufficient and didn’t need to bother our hosts for anything else however they made it clear that we could bother them for whatever else we might want or need. We requested the secondary 5 person tent be set up for our friends and it was perfectly placed and set up upon our arrival. This made spreading out and some privacy among couples were easy. The hammock was a hit for myself and my wife where we read and napped basking in the filtered afternoon sun. I would highly recommend not only this particular site at Whippoorwill Woods, but Tentrr altogether, as they seem to have bridged the gap between campground and luxury camping. We will absolutely return, preferably in some more brisk weather if not only to take advantage of the small wood burning stove inside of the beautiful tent. Thanks again for a great getaway!

This was our first Tentrr and it was fantastic. The campsite was beautiful, the surrounding hikes and activities were great, and the camp keepers George and Sue were wonderful, kind and very attentive. They really cared about our stay and did everything they could to make it perfect. I highly recommend this site to other campers and I hope to be back soon!

George and Sue could not have been nicer or more accommodating! They are great hosts who clearly care about their guests and want to make their Tentrr experience a great one. We enjoyed the hikes around the property, the peace and solitude of the camp, and the wood stove in the tent to keep us warm (it was a little chilly at night so I would advise other campers to bring their sleeping bags for added insulation). The first night my husband and I grilled some steaks over the outdoor camp fire and shared some wine. Overall a great experience!

A magical sty in Whippoorwill Woods! Everything was set up as expected and George & Sue were the cutest, kindest and most accommodating CampKeepers! We stayed 2 nights and the 1st day enjoyed the 1 hour hike on our personal hiking hill up to the fire tower / peaks place for lunch. Day 2 we did the 25mile ride on the D&L which was pretty amazing! Cant say enough good things about the experience...we will be back to visit Whipporwill Woods! The (Roberts ) Robert, Bobby & Robert Jack

Sue was the perfect host for city slicker camping newbies like us. The Tentrr setup came as described, and Sue provided a few extras that helped a lot as well: firewood, fire starters, and plenty of water. Her land is absolutely gorgeous and will make you want to bid the city farewell for good. We would definitely return, for even longer this time!

This was a wonderful weekend in a great location! George & Sue's land is a beautiful forest with lots of room to hike & explore, but also so peaceful & secluded that we really never wanted to go anywhere or do anything. My family are experienced campground campers, we wanted to try something different and really enjoyed this experience. You do give up electricity and running water, but you gain so much more, it is totally worth it. George & Sue are also just the nicest people and are really wonderful hosts. We'll be back!

I stumbled on Whippoorwill Woods haphazardly through Tentrr one day while considering camping locations for a birthday present. The pictures were beautiful and it looked really interesting as something new that i haven't done before (a bit camping, a bit glamping..). It did not let us down! The charming little site is on the side of a small mountain, with available trails the whole way up over the ridge of the mountain, and there are some beautiful views of the surrounding valleys at the Fire Tower that's just a little further up the way then! As you come into the site, you'll pass by the owner's house and land where they have dogs and horses, and gardens all around. you'll make your way up the winding hill to the site on a few small ground/stone roads (which my prius handled fine). The time of year we went (a week before the Memorial day weekend) was perfect for all the new growth in the forest, everything was very green, but then it also coincided w/ Jim Thorpe's birthday weekend celebration. They have a run, and lots of activities, and basically a small party in town that day that's great to attend! The weather was perfect, we lucked out with no rain, it was warm during the days and cool at night, which was perfect for sleeping! The hosts, George and Sue, were awesome! They communicated everything we needed to hear, and then when we got there were very sweet to talk to and always very helpful for anything we needed. They let us stop down and say hi to the dogs who were very cute and friendly! I'd honestly stop back up just to say hi to George and Sue! The setup w/ the Tentrr was great! The only thing i'd recommend is if you're going up as only two people, to ask for the single bed in lieu of the bunk bed that i believe is a standard, but honestly, it didn't really bother us in the long run. The small wood deck w/ the Adirondack chairs was perfect to sit on and relax or eat, or even do stretching and yoga as we did! We brought pans and food to cook over the weekend and honestly ate fantastically! But we also stopped in town and got some ice cream (a few times - at different locations). And we also stopped up at Penn's Peak to hear some music and grab a few bites as well - we would def recommend stopping up as it's really an interesting place to find out in the middle of nowhere like that. Thanks George and Sue and Whippoorwill Woods for a wonderful getaway weekend! We've already recommended WW to others, and are hoping some of them go! We will be back! Chris and Marissa

George and Sue are some of the nicest and most helpful hosts I have seen. Their campsite is a little difficult to access, however they put in the effort to make sure you get there comfortably and have everything you need. The site itself is surrounded by trees and is in the middle of the woods. You can hike up to the top of the mountain (tough 1 hour hike) where we actually could walk to the Penns Peak music venue for Lunch with a view. Great experience.
