I now have about a year of listening to my vinyl through a Vincent 701 phono pre-amp. I went from the original tube to Gold Lion and on to this Brimar 12AU7. Each step was a good move and this one will be the last. After 100 hours of play I cannot ask for much more from a valve/tube's impact on nice equipment. It is hard to discribe, but it just plain 'sounds great'. At times I am a bit sad when I realize that so much of the music and so many records made years ago never sounded this good at the time it was made. These valves/tubes made in the 1960s did not have the turntables, amps or speakers to hear what we get to hear. The reprints of 'old albums' on 180g and new presses are so much better than records made in the 60s and our playback equipment is far superior too. These old tubes in the awesome new electronic gear is hard to beat. My amp is a Peachtree Grand X-1 integrated hybrid with a pair of 12AU7s in the pre-amp stage and now runs with Gold Lions and sounds great. I will be ordering another pair of the Brimars to replace the current tubes when my ship comes in next week. After all this I will need to contact Kevin to pick out a new amp. Others seem to like these tubes in their PrimaLuna amps and I am being pulled into the vortex once again. At least I will have a stock of these fine tubes.

This tube is absolutely amazing in my Auris Nirvana. The separation and space between instruments, and between voices, is remarkable. The soundstage now has the coolest 3D effect, both front to back and side to side. Image focus is much clearer. Overall, an effervescent and bubbly boogie factor, with bags of bass to spare. And I like to hear the bass. This tube is, without a doubt, the single best upgrade i have experienced in all my years in Audio. YMMV. Thank you Upscale !!!

After considerable research and reading other reviews I replaced four out of the six stock 12UA7 tubes on my PrimaLuna Evo 300 preamp with these, and left the two outer cathode followers as supplied. Been running the Brimars for about fifty hours now and am starting to notice a marked improvement across the board, with less bright highs and a richer better defined bass but especially in a warmer more musical mid-range. A great addition / improvement to my system. Money well spent. Thank you!

I threw one into my phono preamp and took out the new production, $20 mainstream brand that was in there. OMFFFFFFG I have s400 Buchardt which are .... dark ... and now they sound like wide open but not like KEF thank god. If you have a phono stage and looking for a U tube, this one does nicely. Bass is solid and deep. Clarity is superb. Stage is wide and forward. Treble is exaggerated but not sharp at all. But if you have KEF speakers you'll understand why I hate them.

Replacing previous set of Brimar’s in my Dialogue preamp. They lasted for years despite me being an idiot and leaving it powered on 24/7! Fast delivery and stellar tubes. May even turn it off every now and then...lol
