I bought this Gold Lion 12AX7 tube to replace the original tube from my Bellari Phono Preamp. The original tube was going on 8 years old. The Gold Lion 12AX7 is beautiful and the pins are super straight and not bent. It was easy to install although the socket is really tight but I managed with some patience and force to get it seated all the way in. I'm still breaking it in but it sounds fantastic! It's really smooth with lots of detail and warmth. Vocals are sweet and the bass is just right. I'm glad I upgraded. Current system is: Bellari VP130 Phono Preamp, Marantz TT-S15 turntable with Clearaudio Virtuoso Ebony cartridge, Vincent Audio SV228 Integrated Amplifier and Altec Lansing Model 17 speakers.

The Gold Lions are to my ears, the very best new production tubes for my Princeton and Deluxe Reverb guitar amps. Clean, dirty, pedals all sound excellent. I’ve been using them for several years now. Nothing better in my opinion.

After owning my Hagerman Trumpet MC for a year I decided to replace the new issue Mullard 12ax7s with the Gold Lions (platinum no cyro). At first they sounded a bit flat but within 12hrs they started to bloom. Now with ~100hours they have truly come alive. The bass is deeper tighter and more defined. Likewise the upper end has more air and precision without in any manner sounding clinical. But boy-o-boy the mid-range is where the magic happens. Clean, clear and very musical! Imaging, sound stage and depth are all improved. Best of all this tube set has lifted a musical and involving phono stage to another level. The music (regardless of genre) is simply more present and "real". FWIW the rest of the system is comprised of a Well Tempered Classic Turntable, Grado Signature MCZ cart with a newish stylus, Hagerman Trumpet MC phono stage, Manley Stingray Integrated amp and a pair of Tannoy Berkeleys.
