“Unfortunately, my experience with Water Guru did not work out as I hoped it would. As of May 21, 2024, after only about 2 weeks of use, I’m sending the unit back. I took almost 6 months to research, read reviews and look at all of my options for testing my pool water at home. I chose the Water Guru because, in theory, it was going to test the 5 most important parameters (free chlorine, PH, alkalinity, CYA and calcium hardness) and save me time and money of driving to my local pool store. Initially, the Water Guru seemed to be in line with the traditional test strip readings. After a few days, it was reading my alkalinity at over 250 (as did the traditional test strips). I began pouring muriatic acid in the pool to lower the alkalinity to the normal 80-120 range. The alkalinity reading on the Water Guru kept dropping as well. At one point, the alkalinity number on the Water Guru read 149, so I put in more acid. I checked the Water Guru later and the number was still at 149, so I put in more acid. When I checked later and the number was STILL at 149, I knew something was very wrong. My traditional test strip read at 0 or less! I immediately took a water sample to my pool store and it was also reading at 0 or less! But the Water Guru was still reading at 149. I immediately started bringing my alkalinity back up (which took a few days) but the Water Guru stayed at 149 (regardless of what I added to the pool) for almost 5 days! My pool was completely acidic and the Water Guru was “stuck” at 149 despite putting in new batteries and a new cassette. (The readings on the Water Guru across the board were no where even CLOSE to the readings from the pool store). Customer service was very nice but their Senior Engineer basically said that my Water Guru was functioning properly (I don’t know HOW that could be true) and that the problem lies with the cassette pad readings. Apparently, the FC and PH pads are proprietary to Water Guru but the alkalinity and the calcium pads are unmodified from Test Strip manufacturers and the CYA pad is a hybrid. They are apparently trying to improve their algorithms for these readings and have no idea how long this could take. Well, I can’t wait around for these improvements and accuracy of the Water Guru to take effect. I hope that the acidity levels in my pool did not wreck my equipment or my new gas heater that we just installed DAYS before we began using the Water Guru. This device may work for some, but it practically destroyed my pool chemistry. To have even ONE customer go through the nightmare that I did with the Water Guru is one too many in my opinion. I hope they use this review to address the inaccuracy of the Water Guru readings and provide a better product ASAP. Until then, I’m going back to traditional test strip readings and driving to my pool store to test my water.”
“My unit does Not measure Chlorine....a manual test shows perfect chlorine, but the unit measures Zero. Chlorine is the most important reading to me, it does accurately measure the PH and tells me the temperature....which is great.
The unit is round, fits my skimmer perfectly....but my skimmer has a square top....the unit should come with a square trim ring....it looks pretty silly....I gather it was designed primarily for above ground pools...

“The cassette does not fit in the holder. Customer service is non- existent. No one picks up the phone. It takes 24 hours for someone to return an email or call you back. Repalcement cassette is the exact same and does not fit. Clearly I got a defective product which would be ok if it was replaced in a timely fashion but the whole experience was extremely frustrating. I am going to return and try a different product.”
“Only had this about two weeks. Seams to work fine. A Little worrisome when I go to order new cartridges, they’re not in stock concerned that this will be an ongoing problem”
“Working good so far, just needs an option to adjust testing frequency. No one needs a daily test of their pool chemistry. Would love to have an option to test every 3 or 4 day”
“So far, I’ve only had the sense S2 for a couple weeks, but I am very impressed with the ease of set up, the accuracy at which it measures the pool chemistry.
The pricing of the product is comparable to how much money it can save in time and chemicals .
I really love all the information that’s available on adjusting your pool chemistry .
The big question will be in the years to come long will it last?”
“Surprised how easy it was to connect via the app with no issues so far. I feel confident knowing my pool is monitored every day and I’m no longer trying to estimate the pool chemistry with the test strips.”
