I received the Legacy as a gift from my wife 5 years ago. Today I am buying worms # 4, 5 & 6. So some quick math would indicate that with regular use, the worms are lasting almost two years for us. As one reviewer noted, a gentle hand may prolong worm life expectancy. If you have removed the bottle retaining clamp and the three screws to reveal the guts of the cork screw, you know that this is a great piece of engineering. Gone are the days of clamping the bottle between your knees and pulling your guts out to uncork your favorite wine. That ease that the Legacy offers, does create wear and tear on the parts and the worm is the weak link here. Replacement gets easier with practice!! Keep in mind that if you have messed with the internal parts and have come away with dirty fingers, you are removing needed lubricant from the vital moving parts of your cork screw. Just like an oil change on your vehicle, you need to refresh the lubricant to keep things running smoothly. I use a white lithium grease available at your local bike shop and a tooth-pick applicator. A light coat on all moving parts will provide smooth operation. On reassembly, before closing up the case and tightening the screws, make sure that all parts are moving freely and correctly. Keep in mind that the Legacy is doing a difficult task with relative ease for the user. Maintain your equipment, and enjoy your wine!

I like the looks of this Legacy cork screw with the wooden stand. I'm taller so east for me to use. My wife has a little problem getting enough leverage sometimes. We use this corkscrew often, but it does have difficulty with some of the synthetic corks and some of the more dense natural corks. Need to go slow or there is a chance of bending the worm. I've had to replace mine twice within about a year and a half. Wish the worm and guide mechanism were a bit more robust. I give it a "recommend" with the above caveats.

I bought this to replace a cork screw my wife's sister bent. It's not exactly the same, but the length is right. I was a bit worried and tried for a few minutes to get it installed...finally worked.
