“I have really enjoyed these videos. I am just starting portrait painting as I have a background in landscape. He gave me a lot to think about and a feeling of freedom vs being rigid in trying to make it too realistic. I’m starting a self portrait before I attempt to paint the one I want to do.”

“I loved this course and found it really inspiring. I liked that there were few specifics about 'how to paint'. Jonathan simly talks about his own approach which is fairly fluid. His style is adapted to suit the sitter. He emphasises the importance of understanding your sitter in order to capture that extra something that can't be achieved through photography. I found the information on lighting really useful. Made me want to get up and start painting - also LOVE that studio!!!”

“I would definately NOT recommend this course!!!
My husband bought me a voucher for this course as a Christmas gift. I have sat and listened to Jonathan Yeo say "you know" enough!!! I have skipped through talking and more talking and cannot sit (or sleep) through any more.
Just TOO MUCH talking and boring at the same time! The course info states that it is suitable for beginners, which I am. I expected to be guided on how to produce something!! Anything. Instead of listening to how HE does things and how his paintings are loved!!
My husband has emailed the BBC Maestro and expressed our disappointment and requested a refund. His correspondence has been acknowledged and that the matter would be dealth with within 3 working. That was 6 working days ago!! Come on BBC Maestro?? It wasnt a cheap course either and right now we feel ripped off!!! Very disappointing and if I could have given zero stars, I would have done so!!”
