Excellent tips. I'm starting to practice them and already seeing an improvement in a short time. I had no idea I had sleep anxiety and in my case it was unfounded as sleep will always come. So, I still have a long way to go, but already seeing improvements is encouraging.

When I was a GP I handed out advice from Colin Espie our local Sleep Expert in Glasgow, and much of Stephanie’s advice was along the same lines. I’ve reinforced my time of rising, increased the light and my exercise first thing. I’ve also stopped clock-watching through the night. I’ve only once had to follow the advice to get out of bed and read, instead of lying awake. That’s something I knew, but didn’t do in case of disturbing others!
