FireBoard Pulse Reviews

Product is awesome just like my drive 2 and my spark. Build quality, presicion reading, design, charger, tech, etc... It's brilliant! But it has (at least mine) a "small" design flaw from factory. The pin that must touch the inside of the probe's round top to charge the probe is way to inside the plastic she'll. It doesn't make contact hence the probe is always on causing it to drain the battery always to the lower limit. I have to check if the other pin in the hex probe srmection is also making contact or not. I bet for the round area one. PS: I'm a fan and good customer of the brand.

I finally saved up and bought a second Pulse. The all stainless version can stay in my cooks from low temp smoking to blazing fires for finishing a steak. Really a great product.

I tried to find the best wireless probe. I didn't. This will only update temps every two minutes if you are standing right next to your smoker. The further away you go, the less updates you get. Behind one window pane, inside the house, 15 feet away from the smoker, my updates dropped to once every 8 minutes. Did I mention you have to keep the app open? Switch to something else, and your updates drop even more, to 15 or 20 minutes, or they just stop entirely. To me, this makes it useless. I could use a cheap wired probe and have fast and more accurate temps, be just as far away, and have an alarm. Yeah, there's not even a temp alarm. Also, you might think that with a slim profile, you could put this into a small piece of meat, like chicken or fish. Nope. There is a minimum insertion depth that removes that possibility. Overall, this is a shockingly bad product for the price, and one of my worst purchases in memory.

I put my 2 new Pulses to work yesterday and I was really impressed. I used my gas grill to cook 2 extra-thick pork chops and they worked flawlessly. I did not put them into the meat until I finished searing them at about 700 degrees. Once I moved them to indirect heat of about 350 degrees, I put a probe in each chop, then used the Fireboard Drive 2 to track wirelessly, and used my iPhone to display results. Everything worked as advertised. When I pulled the meat at about 140 degrees, doneness was perfect. Very easy to set up and use. I'm very pleased with the results. Nice job Fireboard!

Pulse is great and the integration with my Fireboard 2 on my LSG smoker made me able to use a program to smoke overnight and adjust my cook based in temperatures. Did have a problem with it missing connection when I wrapped my pork butt in foil. Moved the probe outside the foil but it still had issues with connectivity. Worked flawlessly up until that point. Shouldn’t have to buy an antenna for range within 3 feet, through foil, and through the side of a heavy duty smoker.

I have 2 pulse probes and absolutely love them. No more cables and they connect to my Yoder and Fireboard app. However (one of) the charging lights is ridiculous. The charging light for the charger itself is red when charging and green when charged. This is good. But the charging light for the probe is solid red when charging and NOT BLINKING when it is charged. Someone must be playing a joke! But I don’t get the funny here. That’s just wrong. Still love the thing though.
