“I use the Fireboard 2 drive with my Masterbuilt 1050. The stock controller for the 1050 is trash and the Fireboard fixes ALL of the issues. I love all of the features. It is so much easier to use and it has so many more options than the stock 1050 controller. I would like to see timers added to the app but that is a small request. Everything about the Fireboard is great for me so far.”
“I have been using the Fireboard 2 with the competition probes for about 4 months now. I have done a number of 24 hour cooks. As long as there is charcoal, the temperature stays at the perfect 225. This product has taken a huge amount of time and guesswork out of BBQ grilling with charcoal and I am SOOO grateful! The unit is easy to use, works great, holds a charge for many hours even with powering the fan. The App is amazing, allows me to take notes, pics, and other info to keep honing that BBQ skill set. I have recommended to many others and will continue to do so. Amazing such a flawless product was produced by a fairly new company. Thank you!”
“Well, I rarely write reviews, but, I feel compelled to do so for this product. Being a bit of a tech geek as many others are, I got the FB II and fan to help me with my Komodo Joe Cooking. It replaced a not old other device that was not performing well.
THIS PRODUCT SHOULD WIN A DESIGN AWARD!!! It should be product of the year!!!
Design and quality are exceptional. It is easy to use with its intuitive set up and interface. I literally had it going in a few minutes. I love the USB C cable and rechargeable battery. It connects to my iPhone and iPad seamlessly and has a real iPad interface. I have tested the probes at 0 and 100 degrees C and they are spot on. The graphical interface is very helpful looking at rates of temp rise and future projections and all the times are recorded for later reference. The ability to really geek out and send event shots and pics to friends is also easy and intuitive. The fan works perfectly and was able to help with perfect temp for my roasts, brisket and turkey.
I really can not find anything to put on a wish list of things it should do. Every thing it does it does exceptionally well.
CONGRATULATIONS on an exceptional product.”
“Solid thermometer/oven control/cooking guru head-unit, the battery seems very robust, the 3 probes calibrated nearly perfectly at freezing/boiling points, fantastic app/interface. I have their 20cfm fan coupled to the fireboard2 drive and it has worked like a charm both low and slow for a few 6 hour rib cooks, and a bunch of times now for standard 350-375 chicken cooking. I can easily run a 6 hour low and slow on the battery alone. I could probably do a full 14 hour low and slow, on battery. To be honest I think the limit in my case is the amount of fuel I can fit in the egg.
Very easy to set up multi-step programs, setting grill temp and time, or food target temps. Easy to set alerts on individual probes. Easy to rename probes, so instead of “probe 1” on the app/fireboard unit, it can say “wife’s steak” or “blazing inferno.” Easy to view graphs of cooks, probe temps and times and fan inputs. Interface on iPad/iPhone is flawless and intuitive.”
“If you are looking at the Fireboard controller with the Driver blower and you are thinking it might be overly complicated for your occasional weekend BBQ, Fireboard can make your cook easier.
Do you really need one? I guess it depends on what type of smoker/grill you have. I have a Kamado Joe Classic II, and while it is inherently easy to maintain temps, it does take some tinkering depending on where I have it setup. I used my new FireBoard with the Drive unit for the first time on Christmas day for a prime rib, and it was almost as easy as setting an oven temp and walking away. I reversed seared, and it brought the Kamado Joe up to 500 degrees quickly, but more importantly, under control.
I'm just an occasional BBQ guy, not someone who competes or cooks for a lot of friends and family with pride on the line. If you are like me, and the FireBoard is in your budget, it makes BBQing hassle-free. If you are on the fence about the Drive unit, get it... it works really well.”
“Works fantastic. Made smoking almost too easy with my BGE. Paired with the drive, it ket my smoker within 3 degrees of the set point all day, but this was not throw it on the grill and it just works. I had to seal off the cracks around the drive adapter and bottom vent with foil to limit airflow to only what was going thru the fan. Love having 6 probes. Not sure how you can smoke without this.”
“Purchased a FireBoard 2 Drive, Extreme Probe Pack and Smoker Probe - 1/2" NPT - Thermistor on November 18, 2020. FireBoard packaged, shipped and emailed the same day. We received our order on Friday November 20, 2020 and was ready w/ a pork shoulder the following day. Since receiving, we have enjoyed the quality, accuracy and graphics on the device, app and website. The ability to set alerts and receive notifications via the app, SMS and/or email, and label sessions and probes, along w/ adding notes and pictures, has been fantastic. Additionally, Bluetooth and WiFi as been exceptional along w/ the ability to monitor from my iPhone, iPad and/or MacBook Air. After extensive research, we are very happy w/ our purchase and will be adding a Drive Blower soon. Thank you FireBoard for building an excellent product and providing great customer!”
“A great investment. I purchased this because the pit and meat probes on my Traeger Ironwood 650 were so inconsistent and very inaccurate. Decided to go with the drive model because I have a Vision Kamado grill. I am glad I did! I was using my CyberQ on the Kamado with limited success.
The Fireboard2 drive controls the pit temperature on the Kamado with amazing accuracy and consistency. Even better than the Traeger grill does.
It is nice to have the accuracy in temperature readings. I use the Fireboard2 for measuring temps on the Traeger pit and adjust the controls to meet the desired temps based on the Fireboard2 readings.
I am glad I purchased this and I have recommended this many times to friends as well as on the Traeger forums.”
