About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “As soon as we opened the amazon box we were impressed! the packaging and presentation was amazing and a lot of though went into it. The guidesrules were very simple so good for beginners, and the board itself was lovely with no faults or even a scratch!would definitely recommended for others to buy, we will be keeping it in the house set up as its so lovely to look at!beautiful work and packing thank you”

“An Amazing set, beautifully crafted chess board, comes with a soft bag to protect it, the parcel is nicely thought out and has an air of class about it with it wrapping, bows and box.. Very good value for money for the prestation, robust pieces. Brought for my husband for his birthday and he loves it.would recommend to anyone who loves chess and is thinking of giving it a present..My children 6 and 10 are loving playing with dad.”

“The sets for only 2 more look as if theyre better and more detailed than this one, I feel as if Ive been overcharged for a cheaper set didnt expect this with it being the Amazons Choice. On an optimistic point Im guessing these pieces are more environmentally friendly being made with wood from quick growing trees.”
