About Jaques of London:
In 1795 Thomas Jaques took on his 15-year-old son, John as an apprentice. Together they established ‘Thomas Jaques: Manufacturer of Ivory, Hardwoods, Bone and Tunbridge Ware’ in Hatton Garden. We have remained a family run business ever since, with the same unwavering passion for quality games and toys.

Today we are ever-expanding our toy range and have been honoured with over 10 awards in the past five years as a result. Our Mini Minds Hub launched in 2020 to encourage learning at home. This is now stocked with over 150 free resources. We’ve been working for over 230 years to fill the world with more joy and we hope to keep striving for that goal long into the future. “Unfortunately, the chessboard had scratches despite being well packaged. The colors were different. One side of the board was lighter than the other half.”

“Unfortunately, in my opinion, it was not very well made. I wanted to give the chessboard away as a gift and I didnt want to do that in this condition. The wood had already split in some areas. Thats why the chessboard went back. Otherwise, the condition was good, hence 3 stars.”

“Does not open well flat. The parts are much too light. A gust of wind, a wrong move, your game is on the ground. Its actually not expensive, but its worth the price and the cost, no doubt about it.”
