“First we received a chess set that was missing three pawns and had one bishop too many. Monday product? In any case, the game was unusable, so we had to send it back. Thats why we lose the first point, because that really shouldnt happen. The rest of the review relates to the replacement delivery. This was complete and was unusually well packaged, especially considering the low price around 11 euros. Very classy gift packaging that suggests classy quality. Unfortunately, the workmanship of the game is in no way comparable to that of the packaging. Some of the pieces are made rather carelessly, especially with the rooks and knights, where you can see that the work was done hectically and inaccurately. Some of the notches on the rooks are completely in the wrong place, see detailed photo, as are the knights eyes. For 11 euros and acceptable for my 6yearold son, who is a chess beginner, we kept the replacement. Unfortunately, its not suitable as a gift. Hence the second point deduction.”
“Just started playing chess again and my wife has started to learn it for the first time. Was looking for a decent set for a reasonable price good enough to be a pleasure to use whilst not representing a big price given that we may not play long term. This set fits the bill very nicely. The size is just right not so small to make it fiddly to move the pieces and also enables you to have a clear view on the position. Quality is excellent given the prove tag of only 30. Seller was excellent to deal with and Id certainly return to this seller for future purchases. Hope this helps someone else.”
“Bought for grandchildren who are in school chess club. Good starter set, although they can all beat me already. Small part of board veneer lifting already when I received the set. Too much hassle to return for small defect but disappointing. On the whole fairly good value for money.”
