It was great quality and he was delighted the magnetic latch on the board to fold it closed is a lovely touch.My favourite thing about this purchase, however, was the personal message that was received afterwards, in particular informing me that if there was any problem, at all, that I could speak to a real person on the phone, and thanking me for buying a real chess set instead of choosing to play online. a great company I truly commend the customer service. “I chose this a good, quality and value for money chess set for my son.Overall I am very happy with the purchase. I have knocked a point off for craftsmanship because I was slightly disappointed with the pieces I have seen better representations of the Stauntonstyle of chess piece the carvingsmouldings are a little crude, for instance the knights look more like dogs to me than horses plus the wood is quite light and plasticky.But... I am being hypocritical. Overall, this is a good and pleasingontheeye chess set from an excellent and traditional company.”

“This was the third chess set I have bought this holiday season from different retailers. The first had a chemical smell to it, the second had a scratch across the board and the folding board didnt match up. I was so relieved when this one arrived with even colouring on the squares, well made chess pieces and wrapped beautifully. The price is a surprise as I was looking in a higher range so I am delighted and hope my chess mad 11 year old will be too.”
“I bought this to play with my 6 year old son. He loves it. The quality is fantastic, especially the packaging.There are two things that could be improved though. 1 There needs to be a clasphook or a magnet to help hold the board closed when not in use. 2 the individual pieces are very easy to knock over, and as such could do with a small metal plug or insert in the base to improve the balance.Overall its still a great set, and no regrets.”
“The price is hard to beat. The packaging is really good and inventive. The board is lightweight yet it feels solid. The downside of the set really are the pieces, which could be a bit more bulky increasing the base diameter, most of all and heavy so they wouldnt wobble as much.”
