What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Parental involvement, home discussions around the circle of influence in particular.

“The students are engaged and focused on working through the booklet that is encouraging them to know themselves better. We have had several really thorough and deep discussions around the aspects of an individual and their feelings. The beauty of this resource is that once it is set up and the students understand how to use the charging station it is something they will use all year. It is great to see them identifying how they are feeling and if it is not in the green zone thinking of strategies to allow them to calm. It is perfect for my year 6 learners, and timely for them as they transition on to intermediate school.”

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Due to the fact that we are having less disruptions/disagreements means that our families are having their tamariki come home in a more positive frame of mind. Which means they are overall happier.

“The self confidence pack, was a great addition to my classroom. It gave the students an opportunity to discuss their feelings and emotions with each other. Additionally, having the mat meant that my tamariki had an area to go to when they needed to reset. Recharge and re-enter with a clearer mindset.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Letters from parents/whānau - being able to read what grandparents, siblings, parents thought about their strengths were uplifting.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? sadly, not as much as I hoped

“There was some really cool material in this Kit and great ideas. However, my class just didn't gravitate to it like they have with other Kits. My parents loved the letter to their child, and many shared it further afield to extended family for responses. It was great seeing the students' faces when they read letters that they'd not seen at home or known were coming.”

“Loved the token for the kids to put how they were feeling each day when they got to school. Made it easy to see who was not that great and also the kids through it was anonymous, so did it truthfully. The different zones worked well too and we are going to keep using these throughout the school year”

"I liked sitting on the round mat and thinking about how I was feeling."". "I liked how the teacher had everything on the wall so I see it every day"

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? I found the counter system particularly useful as I could then see who was having a not so great day or vice versa instantly (especially when still building relationships with the students)

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? A sense of ownership, self confidence and resilience

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence As the term progressed the students did not need to use the system as often because they had developed the skills and trust to chat with me instead

“This is a fantastic kit for the start of a school year. It fits in with our school values and has helped to build resilience across the classroom. We used the activities daily initially but as the class culture developed and relationships were built, we did not need to use the counters as often - this was a good thing as it meant the class were coming together nicely.”
