What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We linked it to our pe timetable - tasks needed some movement element. We also looked at the history of world records. Unfortunately we ran out of time to explore nz world record holders.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I’m going to is the kit next year when we are focusing on our school value - resilience. Also into as a brain break option - trying to break a record

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? We used tape measures, rulers and timers. I modeled how to find an average. We also used a graph to track attempts.

Excellent engaging kit. The class loved creating their own record challenges and trying to be the record holder. All children were able to have a record at some stage.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We explored conversion of units with students, adding and subtracting lengths and times.

It was a great hands on exploration of measurement - the kids quickly upskilled on measuring length and how to use a stopwatch for timings. Had so much fun with this kit - it carried on far longer than we had intended as the kids just did not want to stop - and the rest of the school also wanted to get in on the challenges!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We linked it to the Commonwealth Games where we were cheerleaders for Tyler Lench in the NZ Black Ferns Hockey team. We were able to link to current events, sports, maths, written language, reading, social sciences (geography, world map, history - Commonw

We were able to build on our learning through our PB4L learning - Quality Circle Times, Restorative Practices, etc Literacy and math will be taught in more creative and less restrictive ways - we've seen what the students can do and how we might have been

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Talk moves were finally in action! We used equipment, we converted our talk to numbers, we learned about length, time, number of repetitions, volume... The students took it to all sorts of interesting places.

Lots of fun - and a huge amount of learning across the curriculum. The kit was initially deceptive, but once we got into it, our years 2-3 children were very inspired - their written language was creative and their math engagement was hugely improved.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? The students learnt about recording accurate times and counts. They also learnt about being accurate and fair.

This kit was highly interactive for the kids and they enjoyed the chance to come up with new world records. They also learnt new vocab which they have continued using since.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? My students wanted to look into the history of world records (ANZHC is a focus for us this year) but time did not allow it. This could be a future learning opportunity.

Our kids really enjoyed this kit. They loved the agency to create their own challenges. Some activities needed some adaption to fit the age group but this wasn’t a barrier. Thanks School Kit
