What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Inspire my reluctant readers who became very interested in the Guinness Book of Records in my class. PE - balance, technique refinement for some activities like shooting a hoop, Literacy - language features, mathematical language and terms
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Researching superlatives in nature, the biggest, longest, tallest, heaviest, loudest, smallest.... kids are really interested in the extremes.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Yes. Lots of mathematical thinking esp in the measurement strand. Reading and recording time and length, ordering time and length, thinking in seconds and milliseconds, choosing appropriate measures for different records.
How successful was this kit in encouraging physical activity in your class?

A fabulous kit. The kids loved it. I kept it until towards the end of term 4 as a fun way to finish the year off. There was lots of fun and healthy competition. They were all engage and motivated with this kit.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Lots of critical thinking as they had to think about what they were going to measure. They also needed to think about keeping testing the same so lots of links to science for fair testing, thinking about consistency and variables.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Plenty of links to our school values and key competencies.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Fabulous for measurement skills of length and time as we had to supplement the sand timers with stop watches.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We did not get to this part of the kit.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We're at the end of the year and don't have time for future learning. It has shown me that it would be great to do in conjunction with the olympics or other similar national/international event.
How many DIY World Records did your class make?
How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? A number of children chose time or distance based records, which meant they had to use metres or minutes. Some thought that jumping big strides was "good enough"for measuring metres and had to learn that it was not a fair way to measure.
How successful was this kit in encouraging physical activity in your class?

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We were able to link to our Inquiry of He tangata tauira aha - I inspire. We also had a visit from an Olympian Athlete. It crossed all our curriculum areas and was easy to integrate.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Startistical investigations, world records, writing, reading etc.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? It linked so well to statistical investigations - gave us a context for measurement, decimals, percentages and fractions.

This is a fantastic and engaging resource. It provided students with a real life context. It is easy to follow and the students thoroughly enjoyed the records contest for learning.

We have not used this kit yet as we had another unit run longer than expected. However it looks amazing and reading reviews from others has been amazing. We are really looking forward to using it next year.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? There was competition for physical activities, memory skills, balance and co ordination. Students expressed their own passions and interests as they came up with records. There was collaboration as student helped each other work out rules and boundaries.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Our plan was to share this across other classes but COVID absences curtailed this. I will be using the Google slides presentation that we finished with next year to kick off how special and unique we all are. Everybody is a champion at something!

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? We did a lot of measuring including number, distance and time. We had judges to check each record so that there could be no arguments. Students had to figure our what could be easily measured and what could not.

This was very engaging and every student in the class came up with a crazy record which was a load of fun. We used great elements of crazy along with the cool talents of a variety of students. Students had to plan their 'Record Activity', test it out and check that it was measurable. Students took on roles such as judge, official measurer, encourager and supporter as each student presented their 'Crazy Record' activity. There were interesting combinations of skills included and one student recited the digits of pi while bending over in a bridge, balancing a pineapple on her abdomen. Quite impressive. This was a very inclusive learning activity as my 2 special needs students were able to successfully set their own records.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It gave them an engaging, fun topic to learn about and encouraged maths, writing and reading. We read other world record books, wrote articles about their world records.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The kids wanted to keep practicing their world records, and are still coming up with new ones to test out.
How many DIY World Records did your class make?
How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? They enjoyed being able to measure their records using measuring tapes, and timers. It made them think about distances (cm, m) and times (seconds, minutes) .
