What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Tied into Commonwealth Games/Olympic learning. Differences between world champions and world record holders were investigated. Note: The total number of records the class holds is unknown.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The kit encouraged students to think outside the classroom space, to take their learning and apply it to real-world contexts for them. The kits also supported competition between the students individually and to collective goals.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Future records we could try.

The kit was a great match to our statistics learning and provided an interesting real-life context for the class. The children were able to investigate, learn and apply their knowledge through the kit.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Linking in with early Māori measurement, How important being active is and practice at a skill...it can be exhausting!
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Finding out the different skills and strengths of ākonga.
How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Thinking critically about the data and analysing it looking for trends and how to graph it. What type of graphs to use, how to label a graph properly..eg axis, number scale Measuring for accuracy and what measurement units to use

Looking at world records was a hook for the ākonga then we made the world records as rotations eg human benchmark, 10m heel toe walk, dice stacking etc..and Ākonga were really engaged . Lots of mahitahi ( working together) and wānanga ( discussion) Data was collected at each rotation and then analysed by ākonga, looking at trends eg girls, boys, shoe size etc and then having a go at graphing the data.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? This was really cool to do as it came when the class was really interested in the commonwealth games so a really good link.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? My students have kept creating new challenges for each and encouraging each other to break world records.
How many DIY World Records did your class make?
How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? Lots of mathematical thinking was engaged without the students releasing and it related to the maths unit we were doing which was statistics.
How successful was this kit in encouraging physical activity in your class?

Our class loved designing fun challenges and then competed against each other. The class had heaps of fun every day doing them. The flags were displayed on our class wall. It was especially awesome for those students that do not always shine in class.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? There was a definite value in terms of how we could merge PE, Maths, English and inquiry. I loved that.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We actually had our very own past student and Guinness World Record holder come in and talk to the children about the process involved in challenging a standing Guinness World Record.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? The students had to include reasonable measurement criteria and act as adjudicators (thereby actually measuring).

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The class loved writing their World Record Challenges and sharing those with the class before competing against each other to set the records. This gave them the opportunity to critically evaluate how to do things and develop strategies.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have shared the idea of creating World Records with other classes in the school and this has been really cool to have to lead and explain the project for the students.

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? It got the class thinking about how to record data and how to make sure that they were specific in setting the parameters for what they needed to record.
How successful was this kit in encouraging physical activity in your class?

The class loved doing the World Record challenges! It was easy to navigate the online site and provide the clear guidelines to the class. The class then presented what they were working on to the school in assembly and got other students interested in it, which was really cool.
